Reviews for Highly Improbable

Em 2005.08.23 - 08:08AM 34: The Hour of Parting Anonymous
Hi, just stumbled upon this story and I'm first to leave feedback. Yay! You write Snape very well- lots of authors seem to change him to fit a romantic storyline but this sticks to canon. Look forward to reading more. Not quite clear how Dumbledore could be an uncle, hope this gets explained later on.

Author's Response: There were hints to explain how he could be Salacia's uncle in the scene between Dumbledore and Snape. There's also a clue in Salacia's dialogue back in chapter 15. But yes, it will be explained in more detail in an upcoming chapter. Thank you for reviewing, Em. :-)

What a ride! Between you and Sigune, I'm hooked on Snape and Clancy and your story, too. How odd that those pictures I saw for the first time not so long ago have come to life so vividly in my mind with the help of your words. Now I will have to learn patience as I live for the next installment (and the next and the next...). This story is amazingly well thought out, funny, moving, and, regarding the relationship between the two protagonists, surprisingly believable (even if "highly improbable"!). I love the anagrams, the pineapple references, Snape in a kilt, the insulting Jarvey, Clancy in a _camel_ suit, Eloise as a great singer, jokes at the expense of Harry & Hermione, references to 2 of my other favorite Snape ships (Hermione & Lily....now I'm just hoping for Narcissa :]. Of course, Clancy/Snape will be my top favorite), and so much more. And yes I think JK's been reading, too: I can't say I blame her! Now I think I'll go back and re-read chapters 1-33 while I wait for 34!

Author's Response: What a lovely review! Thank you very much, Lunafish. The latest chapter just posted, and by an odd coincidence, Narcissa is in it. No shipping jokes, though. ;-D

Vocalion, You are amazing! I have just gobbled up the last three chapters like El Panpipe with a nest of voles and laughed so hard I need medication. So many wonderful moments. Even when I could see it coming ( tastes like chicken... and 'camel suit') your wit made the scenes a delight. Thank you for writing such an enjoyable story. HBP took the wind out of my sails, but as you indicate here, there is still hope for Severus. Actually, I will still like him even if he became the new Dark Lord. That's probably because I'm an American of the Lowest Order.

Author's Response: Ah, a fellow Californian? It was rough going for Snape lovers for a couple of weeks there, wasn't it? But many of the theories I've read at various sites and LJ communitities are giving me hope. I think we can expect a wild and most satisfying ride from Ms Rowling in Book 7. The hard part is the waiting. Thanks for reviewing, Teacherspet.

You have incorporated the new canon most excellently, Vocalion. I can quite see what you mean now about it being freeing! Set as it is amidst hilarious dancing and even more hilarious misunderstandings, it becomes very poignant. And I am ever so pleased to see Eloise Midgen have her fifteen minutes and then some. Dumbledore's note to Clancy is, quite simply, (to use a newly acquired expression) funny as all get-out. That luggage and looming canon events are ominous, but your wit and creativity are in top form, and I look forward to the rest of this story with (dare I say it) as much excitement as I have for book 7. And I know I'll get it quicker, too... ;-)

Author's Response: You always leave me such lovely reviews. Thanks, Grainne. I'm trying to milk every last moment before the mood of the story must shift. But I shall try to keep the darkness light.

"You mean dementors can actually drain every happy thought and memory out of a person and reduce them to utter despair?" "Correct." "Funny, I always thought that was your job." ROFL!!!

Author's Response: I'm always interested to know which lines readers enjoy. Thank you for reviewing.

I take it back. You aren't as funny as JK, you are way past that. I'd thank you, but I'm sure it's not over yet. I imagine I shall be shedding wet undergarments myself by the end of this.

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing. I'm glad you've enjoyed the story so far.

OMG that was even funnier.

That was truly hilarious. The actual JK books are the only things have made me laugh like that in ages.

Actually it means "Shame on him who thinks ill of it". Occassionally poorly translated as "thinks evil of it". Without context it is a more elusive subject than "this" - which is an unstated specific. However add back in the context and you can be certain that it refers to the Order and it's activities. Shame on you for corrupting translations to your own purpose, lol.

Poor Snape and Clancy, their Christmas in shambles with gifts cast aside (er, burned). Things are running amuck, with Karakoff sneaking around and that cumbersome camel head! I was on the floor laughing, literally! That has to be the single most funny fan fiction scene ever! And Clancy bore it with such dignity! I must confess I would have worn a pillow case, Dobby-style, before the camel suit. It takes a brave woman to toy with Snape and wearing a camel suit! The absolute best yet...

Author's Response: Thank you! Had it not been for Sigune's request, Clancy would never have appeared in a camel suit at all, and the chapter would have turned out completely different. :-)
