Reviews for Highly Improbable

Sniv 2005.08.31 - 08:22AM 34: The Hour of Parting Signed
I am now in serious need of chocolate! ... I admire the way you mix HBP-facts into your story - amazing! I would like to quote something but I'm still quite depressed...Dumbledore's talk with Snape made me realize that there is hope, but for now I'll go hunting for chocolate! Karina - you need to update! ...and it doesn't help that No Doubt's 'Don't Speak' is on the radio either!

Author's Response: Don't worry, Sniv. Things will work out fine. But keep the chocolate handy for a couple more chapters. :-)

Dear Merlin...*sniff*.... this really brought tears to my eyes, and I am not the sort that cries easily, but I hold Clancy so dear to me; she is like this friend that you see once in a while but that is always there for you. I can’t wait to see them back together, saying good bye was just too discouraging and sad. I liked the way Dumbledore showed him he does have a chance in life; knowing about a perfectly normal life out of that madness will surely make him do his best to survived. I can’t wait to read the next chapter ….*sniff* … even though I know it will let us know how she forgets her life in the wizarding world; but not Snape -thanks to his Slytherin solution she will probably had wonderful dreams about him : )

Author's Response: This was the chapter I didn't want to write, but it had to come eventually. I'm feeling terrible about depressing everyone, but their reunion will be all the sweeter because of all they've been through...or maybe I'll just make Snape lose his trousers again. :-D No really, I'm hoping to draw this to a satisfying conclusion within a few more chapters.

Bosanova, that brought memories of my childhood and my mum dancing and twirling around the living room ; ) What a great chapter Vocalion. The Christmas present was just preposterous (replacing a trunk that HE lost a couple of YEARS ago??) The Oboe on the other hand was very well deserved, by the way he behaves around her it was a very well deserved gift, I even dare say Clancy outdone herself : ) I love those jealousy attacks he gets over her; I can understand him being childishly jealous of Remus (even tough stealing letters is unworthy of him) but jealous of poor old Flitwick? That could only be redeemed by claiming he is madly in love with her : ) Clancy really has not only a wonderful heart but a huge mountain of patience; I loved the way she puts up with the rest of Christmas and then with Dumbledore’s “mistake”.

Author's Response: I think we've all caught our mothers dancing the bossa nova, at one time or another. :-) I tried to make this chapter as lighthearted as possible, considering what lies ahead. It's all the goofy little misunderstandings that really binds them together, more than the moments of passion, I feel.

I hope you don't misunderstand my ranting about Clancy, Vocalion. I love her as a character. Maybe my chatter isn't the right thing in a review - your writing is, as usual, impeccable. The plot is consistent and interesting, the characters are consistent and believable and the humour is outstanding. Clancy is a such a great OFC *because* she has these little flaws. I just love to ponder the ways of fictional characters like - does he deserve her? Does she deserve him? How will she manage being out of her own world for good? Will he be bored by her in the long run? And so on. And I'm sure you'll address many of these topics in your own unique and funny way. So there, have some more chocolate and go get writing, woman! ;-)

Author's Response: Quite all right, Sylvana! I'm happy that some readers like Clancy well enough as a character to even *want* to analyze her. I'm honored that you've taken the time to share your thoughts. :-)

:) :) :)........... sorry, I'm still laughing.......... this is so good.......I think everyone in the office just heard me!! -I don't care- I never thought to see those two near Clancy, but now I'm glad you put them all in the same scenario, great chapter Vocalion

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! :-)

What a wonderful chapter, I was so sure he had made a stew out of Panpine, thanks goodness he didn't. At last the kilt...hmm....... there is nothing else to add :)

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. Some reviewers would have preferred for Panpipe to be in the stew! :-)

Truly amazing, Vocalion! You managed to propel your story forward, yet tie up lots of loose ends and incorporate those mandatory canon points seamlessly. I didn't cry or feel sad, though...I just KNOW they are destined to be! (And the daughter is the qualifying evidence.) What's a happy ending without some serious emotional turmoil beforehand? I look forward to reading what happens to Clancy when she boards that jet and how she is reunited with Severus. No wonder you're my favorite fanfic writer!

Author's Response: Thank you, SIW! Now, if we could only convince JKR that they are destined to be... ;-D

**SOB** Sometimes humour strengthens the tragic side of a story - I almost cried reading this chapter... Fortunately I know all will end well, and the existence of Salacia (and Dumbledore's cheerful prospect of his portrait exchanging anagrams with her) perked me up a little. *sniff* You're so brilliant. I'll be more than happy to illustrate the 'ferocious kiss' ;-).

Author's Response: You can illustrate anything for me anytime, anywhere! And I am completely flattered that you even want to. It wasn't my intention to make everyone sad with this chapter. The timing of their parting is how I had planned it from the start, but I suppose due to HBP, it makes it all the more depressing. But yes, I think it is safe to say their future is looking bright. Thanks, Sigune! :-)

What a great surprise - an update! I loved how you tied all the little hints and information from earlier books and HBP together. Things like Narcissa delivering sweets to Draco... we were told how much she cares for him in the past, she sent sweets, she didn't want him to go to Durmstrang - and that was the perfect preparation for her actions in HBP. And here she is, delivering sweets in person, a caring, devoted mother, whatever faults she may have otherwise. And there are more of these little things in your story that make it so enjoyable - in addition to the great humour of course. I, too, loved the Dumbledore scene. Telling Snape to grow up - perfect! I only hope that someone finally tells Clancy to grow up as well. Without the funny parts she can be a bit irritating in her cluelessness. She does have a good brain... hopefully she'll start to use it for more than anagrams soon. Walking away from the second task... I wanted to shake her, LOL (I guess that just shows how real she seems). So, for both of them to be good companions for each other, they both have a bit of growing up to do I guess. I can't wait to read more. I'm looking forward to your summary of events and how you'll wiggle Snape out of his future predicament. I'm looking forward to Clancy's floating memory bits... and hoping for many more bizarre and funny moments with those two. Here, have some chocolate to keep the muse in a good mood ... ;) Sylvana

Author's Response: My main reason for keeping Clancy in the dark, is because I thought it would be amusing to diminish Harry's part in the story and instead, promote minor characters to more prominent roles, such as Eloise Midgen. Perhaps the concept is amusing to no one but me, but that was my initial intention behind keeping Clancy clueless. And you have to admit, sitting in the stands for an hour waiting for something to happen could become rather dull. Most of the action took place underwater. Thanks for the chocolate, Sylvana, and for reviewing! :-)
