Oh, it's as much of a rollick the second time round! (I really must stop reading this story with a full bladder). I can't tell you how much I love Clancy for the following:
"It is not so much a matter of inferiority as it is concern for your safety."
She squeezed his hand. "I've never thought you were inferior, Severus. You mustn't be so hard on yourself."
Snape bristled. "I wasn't referring to ME!"
Clancy withdrew her hand. "Surely you weren't referring to ME!"
Every woman in the world should take lessons in self-esteem from Clancy! The blond, brunette, redhead bit was choice, as was the name of the inn, the Harry joke, and suspicious sloppy Snape's reaction to Clancy's advice to shut his legs. Have I mentioned that I quite like this story?

Very poignant chapter. Poor Severus. And he gave her such a sweet gift. You have a real gift for creating romance after the tension of "not knowing" is gone. I don't know if that made sense. What I mean is that they both know of each other's feelings for each other, but the romantic tension continues. In most fics, the romance all hinges on the characters being unsure of their feelings for each other, not the most important part of actually developing those feelings. Okay, enough of my rambling about romance, relationships, and love. Great chapter. And sorry if I misspelled or misued the word poignant. Best, Sophie

How very interesting ... you're not subscribing to the Alan Rickman Snape whose voice is like velvet or honey or ... whatever. Snape seems just as unpleasant as JKR writes him - so good job with that. And I continue to like Clancy very much! Best, Sophie
Author's Response: Thanks, Sophie. Canon Snape, for me, at least, is more fun to write. It's hard to make do without frock coat buttons, though, so I allowed some of them to creep into this story. |

Clancy is going to be just what the Potions Master needs! :-) Is that magic I detect in her future? Either way (if she remains muggle or turns out to have latent magical powers), I'll be interested to see how you develop this. okay, I really should get to bed. Thanks so much for writing! | I told myself that this would be the last chapter for tonight, but okay, just one more! You've made me want to go back and read CoS - good job integrating canon into your fic. | Oh no, I have a feeling that Clancy's summer is not going to go as smoothly as planned! And I love how you use food and drink to give us a sense of Clancy's quirky personality. At least Ovaltine provides all those nutrients ... ick! And dear me, I hope she's not on the South Beach or Atkins diet - just boiled eggs! oh wait, this the previous chapter. She had some carbs in this chapter, so she's good to go. Whew! Okay, enough silliness from me. As you can see, your humor is contagious! :-) |
