When Dumbledore found out that the Muggle author was going to be speaking at a conference in Salem, it gave him and Snape (with Harry, Ron and Hermione along as "decoy minors" - after all the Harry Potter books are supposed to be a series for young adults) the perfect opportunity to meet and interrogate the woman. Unfortunately for Snape, things have gone awry. Harry and Dumbledore are missing, and Salem is crawling with Death Eaters. Apparently Voldemort has become curious about this Rowling woman as well...
