So glad to see this back - Colors is one of the best Potterwerse poems ever written.
Author's Response: For some reason, I thought this site was going to disappear! O.o
I'm still alive...and might write, if anyone's interested. |

Having never read To Compel before you tweaked it, I have to say I like it the way it's currently presented. The last two lines, especially.
And The Colors of My House - AMAZING, perfect. Elegant.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad to know that To Compel works well in the eyes of someone who didn't read the original version. I can't tell you how glad I am that you like The Colors of My House. Thank you again! |

Alan Rickman really is wonderful that way. He can twitch the corner of his mouth, and a hundred different emotions go cascading across his face. That's why I don't like to see him in a beard--it covers up all those subtle things he can do with the lower part of his face. "To Compel" does hint at that, but I think the internal context of the poem isn't clear enough to tell the reader what they are actually looking at. You might want to tinker with it a bit more. I know I hate tinkering with my own poetry, but I had a teacher in college who strongly believed in it, so I'm more open to the idea now than I once was. It's worth a try.
Author's Response: Good call! I'll give it a shot. Thanks so much for your input and reviewing! |

I couldn't quite get into "To Compel," but "The Colors of My House" was brilliant. Writing fic poems is really very difficult, and you've done a grand thing with this. Bravo. :~)
Author's Response: For "Compel," I kept thinking about Snape's opening speech about students not comprehending the subtle yet powerful art of potion making, and I had this montage of Alan Rickman as Snape floating through my head--how he can convey all he wants in just a look or in that sinuous voice of his. The poem's a bit vague, I know, but I still love what I see in my head when I read that poem. ^_^ Eee! You said "Colors" was 'brilliant!' Thank you!! |

I love the second one - the use of the colours is very clever.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It was a mini-plot bunny that started mauling me after I swore I'd go to bed early the other night. ^_^
