Reviews for Always By Your Side

Charming little chapter with a bittersweet ending. I love the way you are weaving the relationship between Demeter and Severus. I have also appreciated the exchange between him and Morgaine, because they both sounded very "human", if I can use this word. But I have especially liked the talk between father and daughter. It's nice to see how they long for mutual company. Also, I found very sweet that Severus desires to offer something special to his child. Pity Melvin had the same idea. I suppose that Morgaine will have to found a special reason to make Demeter's choice less bitter for her father. Sorry for this confused review. I hope you get my thoughts and feelings.

Author's Response: Confused? Join the club. I must admit that Severus and Morgaine's relationship is not going as I had originally planned. Recent events in RL have shed new light on the topic of "letting go". We'll see where the story goes. Glad you're still with me.

Really enjoyed this chapter and seeing what Severus had in his box of 'treasures'. I felt some closure over the "Lily question" for Morgaine but you have still left us with many unanswered questions...

Author's Response: I have also left Morgaine and Severus with many unanswered question. Actually, they have left ME with unanswered questions. They are very much not behaving the way I meant them to. Thus, I cannot give you any hints.

Quiet. Touching. Lovely. I feel a change arriving, and I hope that nobody is going to suffer. At least, not too much. Asking you to spare them would be useless, I suppose. I mean Severus and Morgaine, because you promised to keep Demeter safe, did you? Waiting to know more.

Author's Response: Define "suffer". Severus and Morgaine have two possibilities: one is to break their bond and each move on, the other one is to find a way to spend eternity together. Both ways are painful, and they have to decide together. Demeter I will take good care of, I promise.

*snif!* What will Severus do? Where will he go?

Author's Response: He'll probably do what he usually did: go back to his dungeon to sulk. :P Seriously now: I will take care of both Severus and Morgaine, I promise. Neither of them should stand alone. It would probably destroy them. Thank you for sticking with me and the story!! /M

Melvin was very sweet in this chapter. And I really enjoyed the Gobstones section a great deal.

Author's Response: Melvin is indeed very sweet, and I enjoy writing him. And who knows, I might just take up playing Gobst... marbles, I mean! marbles!! :P

A neat way for some father-daughter bonding to take place! I also enjoy seeing shades of Severus in Demeter. For example when she snapped at poor old Melvin and accused him of waiting for her.

Author's Response: Demeter's daddy's girl alright :)

Alek Riverbed...Alan Rickman...is it just a coninkindink? After all, they both have Hazel eyes! Loved this chapter. So sweet seeing Severus mentoring and getting to know Demeter! Sweet!

Author's Response: Haha, good guess, but no. It took me a long time to come up with the name "Alek Riverbed". Every single letter was chosen with a purpose *hint, hint* I had a lot of fun writing Severus and Demeter. There will hopefully be more sweet father-daughter moments.

Nice, nice, nice! I have loved this chapter. The friendship between Demeter and Melvin is heartwarming. Personally, I have always detested the division between the various Houses: I think that stimulating that kind of competition can only lead to hate and rivalry. And, in fact, this is what has sadly happened to the Slytherins, who seem to be always mistrusted and discarded by the other three Houses. BTW, being the daughter of a Professor and Head of House is going to be tough for Demeter. Just imagine how many mute accusations of being favored she will receive... Anyway, back to chapter, I have liked the way Snape is trying to help and become part of his daughter's life. Surely, with such a protector, she is going to shine ;) And finally, a question: which is the relationship between Melvin's mother and Alek? They both have the same surname, so, what kind of relatives are they? If you can reveal it, of course ;)) Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: I have a feeling this might be a chapter in your taste :) And I actually had loads of fun writing it. We both know that Severus will not just open his arms and offer his daughter a hug. But when he sees their similarities, he will pick up on them. Melvin's mother is Alek's sister. They have the same last name because Melvin's mother isn't married. Remember, Melvin doesn't know his father and his mother never told him who he is. (Insert dramatic music.)

"All you have to do is call for him.’ I sincerely hope she does! I can't wait to see this very peculiar relationship develop. Lovely interaction between Morgaine and Melvin. Another charming chapter that I had to discover by myself as always. But don't worry, I'm a loyal follower of your stories, so, sooner or later, you will find my comments.

Author's Response: Be lenient, with both me and my characters. I promise that Demeter will call for her father. I can also promise that he will approach her in his own special way. And Melvin ... he's just too cute! :D

I hope you're still updating this story. I read it on my phone, so I can't leave reviews ordinarily, but I had to tell you that I am enjoying it. :)

Author's Response: Don't fret, I am still updating, however a bit slower than I usually do. I've been stuck for a week or two now, but last night Morgaine and I had a heart-to-heart and decided in which direction we're are to go. Thanks for taking the time to leave a note. It was much appreciated. And I hope you'll continue to enjoy the story. /M
