Reviews for Beholden To No Man

OH Severus is still such a CRANK! I thought he might mellow now that he has regained his site. He does hang on to his bitterness rather well!

Author's Response: Molly, thanks for reviewing. As for Severus, it's very hard to change a lifetime of behavior. LOL I like him like that though. Perhaps he is hiding a softer side, though we'll see. :)

I absolutely love the fact that happy, friendly Helen was sorted into Slytherin. It fits with some theories I have regarding what Slytherin characteristics really are. We've seen mostly the negative expression of these characteristics -- Helen looks like a good example of their positive expression.

Author's Response: Thanks, maryh. I had fun sorting her there, though I did think long and hard on it. :) According to the sorting hat, Slytherins are cunning, ambitious, and potentially devious. These are not necessarily negative characteristics. It is possible to be devious without being evil. I'm using Helen as an example of the next generation of Slytherin. Though I will admit, I was a bit two faced as a kid. In school, I was perfectly well behaved, but at home, I used to terrorize my brother a bit, we did things my way, though I was careful to be nice about it when Mom was around. LOL

I can't wait for the next installment! I love wounded and will soon be reading your other works -Thanks for making my day -

Author's Response: Thanks, Aurora. I was glad to finally get this story out in the open. It's an idea that's been stuck in my mind for months. I hope you enjoy it and glad you enjoyed "Wounded"

Excellent beginning! I liked Wounded a lot and was very happy to see this sequel finally posted. Your characterizations of the new professors, and particularly of the new headmaster, are great. I look forward to seeing the relationship between Severus and Aurelia and her daughters grow even more. Oh, and the website address still isn't right in the A/N. I thought to try /id129.htm after seeing that your other subpages were named that way, and it worked. I realize you know this already, but I thought I'd clue other readers in. Can't wait to read more of the story.

Author's Response: Thanks, LetumVoro. On the staff page, I think I fixed it, but then only hit preview and forgot to follow through with save. LOL It should work now. Nothing like technology kicking my butt....I'm glad you like the new staff. I think that Adrian will be a particularly annoying thorn in Severus' side. That was the hardest part of this story, and I think I'm now regretting my decision to kill off a lot of the familiar faces. It sounded good when I didn't anticipate spending time at Hogwarts. LOL That's learn me. :-D...Yes, this story took quite some time to get posted. The muses have ADD or something and were easily distracted. I now have them focused on this story so updates should come roughly weekly.

Great to see more of this story line! I liked the way you wove the new HBP into this one and it has come off well. You have left us with a bit of a mystery concerning Lupin. Can't wait to find out what's going on.

Author's Response: Thanks, greenwood. This one was a bit easier to incorporate to HBP since I hadn't started it first. LOL I'm glad you are enjoying it and the mystery of where Lupin was will be revealed next chapter. :)

I was a great fan of "Wounded" and am so happy to see the story continue. Poor Severus--he can't imagine anyone would approach him without the prodding of the headmaster. Is the story going to be from Snape's POV or will we learn something Aurelia's thoughts as well? I like her a lot by the way--you manage to avoid the superhero OFC trap and created someone who is likalbe and plausible.

Author's Response: Thanks, Aiden. I'm glad that you like Aurelia. Crafting likeable OCs is always a hard thing to do, but I think it helped her that she came about from a non-romantic challenge. In future chapters there will be scenes from her POV. It just wasn't working here at the beginning....As for Severus, yup, he's socially inept. The fact that someone might want to be his friend, or heaven forbid, have romantic feelings toward him is unthinkable. LOL...stay tuned for more. I'm hoping to do an update about once a week, but RL can intervene from time to time.

I love the way the Sorting Hat is behaving, it's stubborness is so vexing to Severus and so funny. Wasn't Aurelia in Slytherin? It shouldn't be a surprise that Helen was sorted there if that's the case. It already looks like Adrian is another meddler, I'm sure that is the one thing Severus doesn't miss about Dumbledore. And he's all knowing too! It should be quite an interesting relationship that he has with the headmaster, especially if Adrian wants to be a matchmaker for whichever way Severus swings. I think I have a good idea of where Lupin is, so why did Severus give up his visits to her after the paper was published, he should be there too. He really has a need for the kind of company that suits him. Thanks for sending me an alert about the story, I was thinking about it today and going to email you to find out when you would be posting it. Also I tried getting your website but it kept coming up 'The Page Cannot Be Found'.

Author's Response: Thanks, Trickie. I try to add in some humor, but I know it's a weak point of mine. I thought that since he already doesn't like the Sorting Hat, it would be fun having it do something to confound him. Yes, Aurelia was in Slytherin, but Helen hasn't really shown much in the way of Slytherin qualities...As for Severus not going back after finishign the paper, the poor man has no social skills. LOL Going over there for no particular reason just hasn't occured to him, at least not yet. :)...as for the website, well, I was a moron. I missed a couple of letters in the address. It should work now. :)...As for the alert, you are the one that really got the idea stuck in my head, so of course I had to let you know. Thanks again for the prodding, even if it took the muses forever to latch onto it.
