Reviews for It Takes A Pragmatist

Hello =) I liked this story very much. I think Alicia is a very interesting character and I'd love to read more of her if you feel inclined to write more. Your characterization of the Slytherin House is quite nicely done and your portrait of Prof. Snape is lovely. Thank you for sharing this.

I really like this. I agree that Snape - even portrait-Snape - would somehow find a way to help his Slytherins, and he'd look out for a secret unwanted child. I think she will survive and flourish, although I can't help wishing that after the war, Narcissa gives her more money. Thank you for posting this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I never liked JKR's explanation that Snape's portrait only appeared in the headmaster's office later due to Harry's intervention because he abandoned his post - he did not genuinely abandon his post at all, but rather continued to protect the school right up to his death. I prefer to think his portrait went where he wanted it, with his children. And I like to think that Narcissa does help Alicia more after the war. I think she would correctly judge that having more money than her foster siblings would hinder her as a child, whereas it would help her fit in as a teen at Hogwart's.

Another piece I very much enjoyed. I am so happy to have discovered your wealth of fanfiction at literatti. This story, I think, centers around the same theme of survival as did The Blue Vial and, though perhaps to a lesser extent, It Doesn't Matter How It Happened. You are a wonderful writer; please keep up the good work!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the kind words - I'm so glad you're enjoying them! Alicia sprang up for me fully-formed, and I just love her to pieces - a rare thing for me and OCs. (PS. I put up a companion story to Blue Vial today at literatti - a Narcissa POV. Enjoy!)
