Reviews for Where Your Loyalties Lie

Agnus Castus 2012.07.11 - 05:16PM 4: The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time Signed
Well crafted suspense at the beginning of this chapter... I was squirming with the possibilities of what he might say next... And then, unexpectedly, Isolde is entrusted with a task, but it's out of the cauldron and into the fire! Utter mortification! Isolde really should've consumed a higher dose of caffeine before heading off to the bookshop... Let's hope her little nap has been enough to sharpen her wits - she's going to need them!

Author's Response: She will indeed! I suspect Isolde drinks so much coffee she has become immune to the effects of caffeine. Too bad for her. Thanks again for your wonderful review.

Isolde's determination to impress with her potion-making prowess, even when sleep-deprived, is a lovely illustration of the depth of her infatuation... Yearning for his attention and craving his praise, wishing to be seen as different from the rest, with every little scrap of physical contact sending her into freefall. Very realistic. Your descriptions of potion-making were evocative, particularly about the mixture of chemistry and magic... I enjoy the way you've written Snape, and I suspect Isolde will need a large vat of Wit-Sharpening Potion to get her through the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! In this chapter, as with the earlier ones, we have really concentrated our efforts on making the infatuation both a blessing and a curse. I'm glad you are enjoying our depiction of Snape, both of us are determined to keep him as close to canon as humanely possible.

A second excellent chapter; I really enjoy your writing style. The thought of a bodice-ripping novel about Snape being published (in canon) is highly amusing, somewhat ludicrous, and I can't imagine it would have much of a readership... But for "those select few who possess the predisposition" such a novel would be manna from heaven. No wonder the bookshop owner had to "order in". I can imagine Snape being utterly horrified and perplexed if he knew of the book's existence... To discover one of his own students reading it... Oh, my! I particularly loved the book's description of each lesson with the Potions master... Beautifully descriptive. Well done.

Author's Response: Many thanks for your kind words! We are lucky in that our writing style is very similar so it has been a real blessing in co-writing this!

What a wonderful opening! Your writing style is eloquent and concise, and you had me giggling several times. I enjoyed the intrigue surrounding the little-known bookshop, and I wonder if Isolde has got away with her little foray into the Potion master's world...

Author's Response: Yes, the bookshop will be an important setting later on too! Glad you like the opening. Would be nice if such a place existed, eh?

Great job! Looking forward to more :)

Author's Response: Many thanks!! More is on its way!

"Twenty-points to Slytherin, Miss Hamilton. Please remain behind." OMG!!! Those are the words I was desperate for him to say. What a cruel but utterly brilliant place to leave us. Your dialogue and descriptions are wonderful, it's a long time since I read such a deliciously Snapey Snape.

Author's Response: Ah yes, don't we all just long to hear those words get directed at us? Sigh... So glad you are liking our Snape; it's important to us that he stays in character so do let us know if we err off track!

"Only four paragraphs in, and she had been reduced to a heap of desires and perspiration." I know how she feels!!! I'm right there with her. Great job, loving this story.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your support!! Really appreciate it. The next two chapters will be posted ASAP! x

Nice start! I loved the book shop and the name of some of those bodice-rippers - all of which I presume are heartily endorsed by Witch Weekly :)

Author's Response: Why of course! In fact, if you subscribe to Witch Weekly, they send you a free bodice ripper every month. I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far :)

Lovely to see you ladies on here! I can never read the title of this story without hearing the lovely Alan Rickman's voice say "Where your loyalties lie...." from the first movie. I'm loving this story and Isolde's addiction to her erotica books is brilliant. I eagerly await more.

Author's Response: Mmmmmm yessss, Snape's voice.... sigh...... Thank you so much for your support - especially recommending us to hexgirl!! xx

Phew! That was a close one, Isolde! Oh no it wasn't! BUSTED! This was recommended by Snapesgirl21 so I had to read it for myself and I'm so glad that I did. This is a really great start. I am intrigued to know about that smutty book :) And I am consumed with questions: Does Snape know about it? Hang on, is HE reading porn... ahem... erotica? And can Muggles get a hold of it from Waterstones? *wants book* actually, *wants to visit shop* More please :)

Author's Response: Lol!!! Yes, it would be amazing to buy such things at Waterstones, wouldn't it? So glad you like it so far - as for your questions, you'll have to wait and see. You will get a peek into the book in Chapter 2, though! xx
