As much as we all love Severus, he wasn't exactly a pillar of strength where relationships are concerned. Author's Response: Hehehe--Yeah, Reg may not like being compared to Sirius, but they do act alike sometimes--although he is trying to help rather than hurt, but he's got so little tact at times. Rose of the West 2010.09.27 - 06:20PM 37: Pass or Fail Signed Oh, my observation of Narcissa is based on the fact that she just sort of cries and waves her hands while other people actually do something for Lucius, and then when he's marginally better, she expects him to comfort her. That's not exactly my mental picture of a helpmate. On the other hand, Lucius and Abraxas have encouraged her to be like this, so they can't complain about it. They encouraged her to be a fragile flower, and that's what they have. No wonder canon Narcissa goes to pieces while Lucius is at Azkaban. Author's Response: Oh, yes, I wholly agree. They have treated her like a fragile flower, just as you said. And since she came into the marriage as barely more than a girl, she never really had to stand on her own, and can't cope. Rose of the West 2010.09.27 - 02:25PM 37: Pass or Fail Signed Hopefully Severus will get the job that he earned through merit. Lucius won't be quite so sure of himself for a few days. Narcissa's a bit of a baby here, but since her husband and father-in-law expect her to be one, it makes sense. Author's Response: Oh, no question about Severus getting the job, he's too good to pass up. Lucius didn't really deserve that punishment, but Voldy isn't known for being fair. But yeah, Lucius will try to melt into the woodwork for a while. Aw, don't be too hard on Narcissa for crying and being upset, since her husband almost got killed once, and now he comes back tortured. She hates what he does and feels helpless to do anything about it. Lucius is awfully sure of himself, there. He can tell himself that he's not really part of the evil, yet he's happy enough to accept what it gets him. Author's Response: Severus does obsess a lot, haha. Always wondering about ppl's motives. You're right, Lucius may not be a murderer, but he does play a part in the evil.
