Reviews for Avada Kedavra

tangerine dream 2011.01.14 - 07:23PM 3: Finding Courage Signed
I am liking this alternate storyline. I do hope she can win Severus over! I know it will be a long hard road for both of them. Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: It will be a long road. And Severus being Severus, will find it hard to admit taht she *has* won him over. :-) Apologies it took so long to update, I hope you're still interested.

So sad and yet so beautiful!

Author's Response: Thank you!

I don't know which is worse: that Charity literally ran away screaming from Severus, or that she was a fan of James Potter! Ack! It seems they both have shameful secrets they'd like to keep hidden. ;-) I don't know if it's a good idea to compare Severus to Scotch. It reminded me of a story. I used to work in a liquor store with a man named Eddie. Eddie liked beer and wine, but not hard liquor. One time a customer told Eddie he should "acquire a taste" for Scotch. Eddie replied, "If I want to 'acquire a taste' for something, I'll go up to my uncle's farm and eat some of the cow patties (turds) from his pasture. It'll taste about the same as Scotch, and be a whole lot cheaper!" OTOH, I'm sure the Snape-haters would be happy to see Severus compared to feces. :-)

Author's Response: Oh, yuck! Thankfully I haven't got that sort of association with Scotch :-) But I can see that in taht case the comparison is probably lost on you! Thanks for your review, and I hope you continue reading!

Wow. You took a lame, unimportant scene (Charity's murder) from a boring, ill-thought-out book and made it moving and meaningful. That takes a talent and sensitivity that are sadly lacking in Rowling's books. Congratulations!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks for those lovely words of praise (blushes)! I hope you continue reading. The alternate story line will give that scene a different interpretation all together.

I know I have already reviewed previously, but after watching Deathly Hallows part 1, this first chapter is gobsmacking in it's accuracy. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it yet, but all I can say is, you must be psychic!

Author's Response: Hi Star_girl, thanks for reviewing again! All I can say is that I'm not psychic, but read and re-read the scene in the book over and over again to make my version fit with it, and that the movie-makers must have done the same. It certainly was weird though, seeing the film, almost like seeing your own story on screen!

This is turning into an intelligent, insightful, & simply delicious story - I'm so glad you've updated. I'm also glad that you've choosen to pick up on the fact (as in Charity realising) that most of Snape's severe demeanour & aggressive/harsh words & behaviour are a defence mechanism ... so few authors get round to expressing this point; or possibly even truly understanding it. I really look forward to more of this now :-)

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your wonderful review! I really look forward to writing this story as well. There are a few tantelising angles and situations I always wanted to explore, and a lot of them will find their way into this story.

I am glad you have updated, I've been looking out for this. Severus is a hard nut to crack, and I'm sure he will give Charity plenty of grief, but Merlin knows he'll be worth it!

Author's Response: Thanks, and sorry it took so long. I hope the wait has been worth it!

I loved your description of the vulnerable Snape, and how he managed to open up to Charity. I hope they can get back together.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm really enjoying exploring that angle in this story, though I think they will both become stronger as a result of their relationship.

There were several lovely parts to this chapter. I loved Dumbledore's speech to Charity explaining Severus taking the Mark, it was perfect. And your description of Snape being like dark chocolate was spot on. Well done!

Author's Response: Thanks, star_girl! I'm glad you liked the scene with Dumbledore, as it was one of the hardest to write.

Rose of the West 2010.08.17 - 06:37PM 2: Marked By Darkness Signed
It's a little foolish of her to make promises that she didn't know she could keep... but she rushed to bed before realizing how fragile a bond of trust with the man would be. I hope she is able to reconnect with the man she admired and provide a haven for the man he really is.

Author's Response: Hi Rose, yes she was maybe a little naive. She meant what she said, but she didn't imagine just what she would discover. We know she can also be a very strong and brave woman, though. We'll see some of that in the next chapter.
