Poor severus, albus kept too much from too many people. Glad he vented to the portrait.

I find it amazing how snape had become so attatched to nice people, perhaps he really got to care for harry in the end...Great story!

Author's Response: Thanks for your review! I think he did care about Harry. We can see this from his memories in DH, by how upset he was when Dumbldore told him that Harry would have to die.

Excellent story. It's hard to believe an expert in Dark Arts, as Snape was reputed to be, *wouldn't" recognise a Horcrux from "a fragment of voldemort's soul ... latched itself onto the only living being left ... Part of Voldemort lives on in Harry ... and while that fragment of soul ... remains attached to, and protected by Harry, Lord Voldemort cannot die."

Author's Response: Thank you! It's not plausible that he wouldn't have guessed, isn't it? Though he probably wouldn't know what objects Voldemort used as horcruxes.

Oh this is good!I find this period in Snape's life fascinating too. Life must have been hell for him, especially as Dumbledore loved to withold vital pieces of imformation. You really managed to give us a feel of Snape's desperation, anger and almost powerlessness as he tries to juggle so many dangerous roles. I love your addition about Voldemort not wanting to face Dumbledore's portrait, I had never thought about that potential meeting, but what a difficult one it would be indeed. I'm glad it was Voldemort who shunned the meeting. I love to think that Severus had an inkling about the fact that Voldemort had made Horcruxes, I wonder if he did. I think I have just discovered my one JKR question - Anyway, well done - I really enjoyed this.

Author's Response: Hi Hexgirl, thanks so much for your comments. I'm gald you enjoyed the story. I also think Snape would have suspected something along the lines of horcruxes. He must have known about them, and he might have picked up clues by being so close to Voldemort.
