Reviews for A Nagini and Severus Tale

Rose of the West 2011.02.09 - 12:59AM 5: Before the Dreadful Dinner Party: Ambivalence Ascendant – Part One Signed
You have a great way of drawing out the tension in a conversation. It's really sad to see how even the people who are friends or should be friends don't trust each other.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading and the review! I always felet Severus & Regulus could have known each other on some level, but because of their different 'positions', there'd be different walls for trust understanding or trust- especially still being adolescents with such much pressure on them - thank you so much for the feedback!

It's always fun to see the various interactions of the different people in places like that.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading & reviewing! I always envisaged a lot of bustle going on at Madam Malkin's; she must know and see quite a variety of clients in her trade - thank you for the feedback!

Wow, that is not a fun family to be in. One wonders what happened with that poor Durmstrang student, too.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reading & reviewing! More on the Durmstrang student a bit later; yes, Abraxas has set the tone and very comfortable with himself and power...

"startled like a doe!" I see you may be working an alternate explanation of that into the story. I like the way she instinctively pulls back from the Black charm but she's neutral to Snape's open curiosity. This is quite enjoyable.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reading & reviewing! Thank you for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it!

That's a dramatic start to the tale! One wonders what murder has been done and why there's such bad blood between Nagini and Lucius.

Author's Response: Rose of the West - thank you so much for reading and reviewing! You've hit upon the two main themes in the story - so little by little details will come out - thanks so much!

This has turned out to be such an intriguing story. Severus is definitely in full character and Nagini is a unique treat. Looking forward to the next chapter. :)

Author's Response: Oh, Rosewood - thank you so much for reading & leaving a review! So glad that Severus is being depicted correctly for a fellow Snapette, and that Nagini is coming across as a credible OC. Again, thanks for the support!

Lucius acting 'nice' is a fearsome prospect, I sincerely hope she has enough guile not to be duped by his outward show of comradeship. I find your dialogue very realistic and believable. Dobby's way of speaking is easy to over do, but you didn't fall into that trap. And as for Abraxas, I can really picture him quite clearly in my mind from your portrayal. The detail you provide makes the whole thing potent and credible - I really feel transported into the world of Nagini and her difficult situation and am eager to find out more - especially when she gets to know Severus better.

Author's Response: Oh hexgirl, thank you for reading and the detailed review! I know, a little bit of Dobby goes a long way - I hadn't planned on him even quite being in the story and he keeps on popping up! I think once they get to Hogwarts, poor Dobby'll be kept busy, back at the Manor. Yes, Lucius only acts 'nice' for his own interests, being raised by Abraxas, Nagini doesn't quite yet understand who or what she's up against. Thank you for letting me know Abraxas is coming across clearly; Nagin and Severus will very soon be getting to know each other, slowly but surely - big heartfelt thanks again!

Oh I agree completely - I think sometimes writers forget that he is human and a man, and as such is driven by very human needs and desires of which lust is a very powerful one. And lets face it. he doesn't get much affection from Lily. What is a spurned Death Eater to do?

Author's Response: *giggling* 'What is a spurned Death Eater to do?' - indeed! Oh hexgirl! Yes, Lily definitely decided to give her affection to another... and have her needs satisfied/fulfilled by that swine, not Sev. Again, thanks for the support!

I always liked the idea that Severus and Regulus might have been friends. The interplay between the two of them at Grimmauld place was really well done. I don't think I've ever read a fic which had Grimmauld Place as the Black family residence with Mrs. Black not yet a screeching portrait, so it's really interesting to view it as it was pre- OOTP. I'm liking Severus's conflicting feelings: his pure feelings of love towards Lily and the unwelcome but undeniable feelings of lust for Nagini. Very much looking forward to the next instalment.

Author's Response: Thank you for the lovely, detailed review! Yes, I always felt Severus and Regulus must have know each other as students and been involved in each others lives during the surge of Voldy's first rise to power - they were both so young, and Regulus 'disappeared' so early as well as the prophecy being overheard, etc. Yes, Severus does have pure feelings of love towards Lily... but as he's human ;) , sometimes unwanted feelings for or impressions of another, and maybe 'appreciating' on some other level might occur:) Thank you again!

I love the scene that takes place in Madam Malkins which highlights all their characters so well. Severus on the fringe, Lucius simmering with arrogance and malevolence, Narcissa all set to be a pure-blood prize and Bellatrix and Rudolphus only too eager to go along with whatever vile plan Lucius has in mind. Nagini has he work cut out for her, I'm looking forward to her experiences at Hogwarts.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading and the review! So glad each persona is coming across and each one's pov! Two more chapters (maybe three), and Nagina will finally get to Hogwarts and have a little respite from most of them. Thank so much again for the specifics!
