Reviews for In His Name

LChaim 2010.02.10 - 12:50AM 8: Chapter Eight: Whispers Of the Ibis Signed
I'm so sorry...I know this review has been very long in coming! As always you far exceed my expectations! This was an absolute pleasure to read! Gareth did wonderfully by himself caring for Severus but the poor man does need some help or soon he may be just as bad off as his patient! I am glad to see Delyth and I am certain that she is really goign to add to this wonderful story! I loved the cat being there! OH MY G-D!!!! I can not believe you left us here!!! lol That was an amazing! I can not wait to read more!!!!

Author's Response: Teetering on the edge, are you? *author grins in satisfaction* Imagine how poor "Neirin" must feel at the moment, not to mention our Delyth !! What a world lies before her !! Needless to say, I was absolutely delighted to see your review -- thank you !!

I don't know what to say. I have been completely blown away by your powerful writing style, your intense imagination, and your gift for being able to tug me along for the ride in a deep trance of awe and wonderment. Your characterizations and attention to detail are exceptional and completely believable. The only two things that I find detract a little are the endless references to a Magick which has practices and words I am not so familiar with, and the renaming of my favorite Half-Blood Prince. (Names are the most old and simple yet the most sacred spells of all Magick.) However, this old Magick is still a very amazing world to explore, and I do very much understand why he needed to be renamed. I just do hope that all can return to normal and names can be returned to their rightful owners soon. Finally, may I hazard a guess to our third comrade in arms? A certain blond-haired boy who has a potential yet to be seen, and a man's oath yet to be made before he can become a real wizard?

Author's Response: I'm so pleased to have bewitched you with my story - and I do hope the references to the ancient magicks of the Celts and the Egyptians will intrigue you to do your own bit of google work !!! You are quite correct about the power of names, which is why we must keep our Neirin's name well-hidden for the moment, lest he be discovered before he is strong enough to fight. And that third comrade - we shall see, we shall see.... *smile*

I am continuing to read and admire this story. Your writing in the earlier chapters has a quality that reminds me of Paul Bowles. I'm saving up reviews for the OWL House Cup, so won't write more for this chapter. :-) Suffice to say, I'm anxiously awaiting further chapters.

Author's Response: You have piqued my interest to learn more about Paul Bowles - must google madly now !! I would be most honored to bring distinction to my House on OWL through the intercession of your kind reviews !!! Many smiles and blessings gentle reader !!!

Like the others, I keep thinking the cat is Minerva and what is she doing, scratching at his Dark Mark? I would have expected her to pool whatever knowledge she had with Gareth.

Author's Response: The ways of cats, especially transfigured ones, are a mystery they guard closely, but we shall see.....

For some reason this chapter seems even darker than the earlier part of the story. I guess it's the darkness before the dawn because the plot has been set up and is now advancing. The cat must be Minerva. Why didn't she transform herself back into her human form sooner so that Gareth could be reassured that she had not forgotten Severus? We know she hasn't, but he has been left to wonder and to wonder what will become of Severus if they have forgotten him. All my empathy and my sympathy was with Gareth in this chapter. I'm puzzled as to how Delyth Morgan fits in here, in some parts she is a dear friend, but I also catch hints that she is his granddaughter or even his great granddaughter.

Author's Response: The ways of cats are most mysterious, aren't they? We'll see soon.... Thank you as always for wonderfully perceptive comments !! You always look for the deeper layers and I love that !!

Thank you as alwasys for your update to this fantastic story. We get to meet Delyth and I like her already. Gareth said she's a fine steady girl. She is just what the dragon needs (along with Minerva,Hagrid and of course Gareth) to guide him out of this darkness that he is in.

Author's Response: Thank you !! Delyth is proving to be an interesting woman, the product of two cultures that are both well aware of the wonder and power of the olde magicks.

How very haunting! Thank you.

Author's Response: I'm so pleased that this chapter left you with a bit of a chill in your bones !!

The Gallant Gryffindor 2009.12.02 - 09:06PM 7: Chapter Seven: An Offering of Sand Signed
Ohhhh....that ceremony was just wonderfully written! So realistic, like I was standing right there! Is Severus reaping what he has sown?...Probably but then so much of his life I feel that he was a victim of circumstance (born into poverty with those horrid parents, being bullied by those damed Marauders, Lily rejecting him...poor fellow) so it's not totally his fault and besides what would this world be like if we all got what we deserved? I think a greater lesson can be learned by Severus by showing him mercy, compassion and friendship. OMG what an excitng ending to that chapter!!!! I certainly hope that the next one will be up soon because believe it or not this is just getting better and better! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!!!

Author's Response: Gallant !!! You have no idea what a joy it was to take a moment to check my personal emails from my office (I'm working very late tonight editing a performance program)and hurrah :)there were not one but THREE REVIEWS from you !!! I am giddy with delight !!! That fairy had a bit of a Slytherin steak didn't she, testing the loyalty and commitment of the Secret Keepers ?? If they were unable to withstand her "angry" challenge and her pretended indifference to Severus' suffering, she knew they would not be strong enough to do what's needed. They have proved their devotion to the task and now she is pleased to entrust them with the crystals. So glad you enjoyed these recent chapters and YES !!! I am working on the next.

It's great to see some of Minerva's past here. I really like her....she is the perfect mix of sterness and tenderness. ohhhhh LOL I fwelt so nervous as She, Dumby and Hargrid began their journey to perform this ritual....I am holding my breath over here! LOL I know that must seem silly but the writing is so very very good that this all seems real! Poor Gareth what a difficult task to undertake alone...it is no wonder he is so tired! Poor Severus...that fellow isn't having an easy time and thank G-d for small mercies as he was not fully conscious for it all that would be enough to drive a person mad! I hope by the end of this Severus will have learned to open up and ...feel. I do hope he can regain his sight...what a terrible thing to lose. Anyway, excellent chapter and now onward with your thrilling tale!
