Reviews for The Scottish Play

Poor Lucius. The butt (excuse the term) of everyone's jokes in your version (which I just love). I hoep we see more of him. I love the way you always play him off against Snape. And you'll need to get Severus to keep his breeches laced up, or he'll never get anything but his women done. Great fun again, Vixen

Author's Response: Well, a man's got to prioritise, hasn't he? As to Lucius, I always thought his very attitude was great fodder for Severus, exactly the right kind of friction for sparks, so to speak. Thanks again. Scaranda

Something wicked this way CERTAINLY comes ... LOLOL -- I almost feel sorry for Lucius. Bring on the Cursebreaker!

Author's Response: It was actually a ghastly pun! Do tell the truth, Pitt. Thanks again for sticking with it. Scar.

Enter the Weasel-catchers. Poor Snape -- he's quite entwined in much plotting and scheming. Quite in keeping with his nature, eh? I'm finding myself liking Aricanthe quite well. :) PW

Author's Response: Oh, yes. Aricanthe's got a mind of her own too, as you'll see. There are no weak, bosom-heaving women for my Severus, just a load of spiteful bitches to keep him entertained. Keep enjoying, and thanks again. Scaranda.

Ack! Lucius is so ridiculous and loathsome, but I sort of feel bad for him, caught between Narcissa and Severus like that. I'm fascinated by the way you write the partnership between Severus and Sirius...it seems as natural as the James/Sirius friendship in canon and suddenly I have to wonder how it would have changed the story altogether.

Author's Response: Ach, poor Lucius, I always seem to cast him as the stooge. Shame really. Thanks again, Rose, glad you're still enjoying. Scaranda

Oh dear, the things Severus will do to protect his loved ones. I do wonder who the Fey is for sure. Is she just the same Morgan le Fay the she was in Tennyson's 'Idylls of the King'? Or is she someone entirely different. I have always thought of Trixie as a modern day Morgan le Fay, that is the Morgan le Fay who was portrayed as a villaness. Is it possible that Severus's Bella is just a girl named Bella and that the Fey is Bellatrix?

Author's Response: Sorry, I should have appended my last reply to this review really. As I said, Snape's Bella is Bellatrix, but as to her defencelessness, I'm sure when we strip away the wrapping we'll find some of the same old hellcat lurking. The Fey's a secret just now (she's kind of a mixture of the various Morgaines and Morgans and Morganas of legend) but I'll say no more as to whether she is actually mirroring an HP character. Thanks so much for commenting. Scaranda

I'm sorry that I didn't get to this before, but my computer received a fatal injury from a power outage last month and my online time is very limited until the new computer I ordered gets to me. Now, I can list the things I know for sure: since the full moon will be the Hunter's Moon, it's October: Snape has an oddly co-operative love/hate relationship with his cat; unlike Trixie (my nickname for Bellatrix), this Bella needs protection; de Mal Foi is the same old Lucius; and Severus may be extremely pervy, but he is the good guy. Now to the one that is puzzling me, are Draco and the fake Banquo who was with Lucius, AKA the fake MacBeth, one and the same?

Author's Response: Well spotted for the Hunter's Moon being the one after the harvest moon, Trickie Woo; both the name and the month will be significant. As to Bella (Snape's Bella, that is), she is our beloved hellcat Bellatrix, but we've got to bear in mind that Severus is slightly delusional about those around them, including himself, and his form of 'protection' involved sending her and Luna off into the foggy night while he stayed in the cave and had his wicked way with the Fey. Draco and the fake Banquo are one and the same, and without giving too much away I'll just say it's important that "Banquo" is a wizard too. Thanks so much again for your comments. Regards, Scaranda

Just great. I love how you twist all the little quotes to your own meaning, and how you manage to make just a few short sentences so indescribably lewd that you make me laugh and squirm at the same time. And Snape's justifcation to himself of his romp with the fey was priceless. Post soon, regards Vixen

Author's Response: You laugh and squirm away, Vixen (I know I squirmed as I read the old pervert's actions back... he just runs off on his own tangent without asking permission from me). Thanks for commenting. Scaranda

That's a great many "ifs," indeed. I wondered exactly how James was going to fit into this. I guess I'll find out soon. Here we are, again, with Snape assuming he's the only one with brains and the will to use them. Perhaps he is. Certainly Merlin doesn't seem inclined to put out much effort, for all that he's not happy with Snape.

Author's Response: Indeed, Rose. But then, was it not always thus with his modern alter ego, content to have Severus do not only his bidding, but the bleeding too? As to Severus, perhaps if he moved his brains slightly further north of his waist, he would get on a little faster. But will he? I'll leave you to guess awhile yet. Thanks again. Scaranda.

I liked the image of Macbeth (Lucius) washing the dust from his hair. Nicely played with Banquo! And the grim Grim tossed into the fray, much to his dismay. Thomas the Riddler and the Fey -- now there's a pair I'd avoid at all costs. So much revealed already. What a tangled web you have woven for dear Severus. Thanks for sharing, Pitt

Author's Response: Oh, the Black one loves a foray, Pitt, the messier the better, as we all know. As to the web being tangled, you ain't seen nothing yet, and neither, I fear, has our dear Severus. Thanks as always for your comments, and of course, for your own input into the early shaping of this sack of rats. Scaranda.

The so far un-named disaster that came through Morgana starts to take shape. It would seem that Lucius is going to be a puppet of the Riddler? Merlin and the Riddler seem to be emerging as two leaders, here... unless they turn out to be the same person, and the thought you leave us with opens _that_ door.

Author's Response: Sorry I've taken so long to respond, Rose. Well, our Lucius needs someone to pull his strings, doesn't he? As to Merlin and the Riddler being one and the same... read on. Many thanks, as always, for your support. Scaranda
