Reviews for The Scottish Play

So very close ... Duncan shall soon repose then dispose ...

Author's Response: To sleep, to sleep, perchance ... oops, wrong play. Thanks again. Scar

A lusty serving wench, witches in the bedchamber, a restrained Malfoy, Andromeda, Draco, the Fey, Merlin and a befuddled Riddler ... my mind is spinning.

Author's Response: Have a drink, dear, I always find that helps (and no, I wasn't drunk when I first discussed this germ of an idea with you, although I seem to remember thinking I'd knock it out in a week's worth of tea breaks). Thanks again. Glad you're still enjoying it. Scar

Wooooooo hooooo! Bill arrives. Snape's cock is a greedy thing, wanting all of the wenches for itself. Lucius intrigues me. Can't wait to read and see who Bill has found to be the cursemaker.

Author's Response: I only stuck Bill in for you, Pitt. Thanks again. Scar

Wow, a really wierd thought crossed my mind after reading this and Trickie's review about Andromeda's character. Some things make more sense, and some are still pretty illusory. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Author's Response: Now, you just sit on that seat properly, Rose, because there's lots more to come (and if you're confused now, just think how I feel). Thanks so much for your continued support. It's very important to me. Scar

As insistent as his cock is, I wonder how Severus got anything else done at all when it was almost constantly demanding to be satisfied. As I said before, the more things aremade clear, the more confusing they become. Andromeda is Banquo's wife, right? But she is also one of Severus's lovers, does this mean that a son of Severus may actually and passed of as Banquo's will become king?

Author's Response: Thanks, Trickie Woo. Andromeda is the real Banquo's wife, but as to your line of thinking that her being Snape's occasional bit of skirt (or one of them) could lead to Severus having fathered the future line of Scotland... erm... no. I'm going to do some historical footnotes at the end of the story, but I don't want to put them in just now. Suffice it to say (and this won't spoil the storyline) that there is no suggestion, either historical or in Shakespeare's fiction (and it was historically incorrect), to suggest that any line of Banquo's ever became Kings of Scotland, or indeed even existed. (There are a couple of schools of thought on Banquo though that I'll note at the end.) If I haven't bored you to death, very many thanks for reading and commenting. Scaranda

"Sirius said, from where he had dragged himself to his feet, and was pissing out of the window, seemingly unconcerned by the howl of fury from the courtyard below."---never mind a howl of fury, I let out a howl of laughter when I read that-- Thanks for what is just one wonderful oversexed romp through mediEVIL Scotland. Excellent stuff

Author's Response: Thanks, Steelyblue, glad you liked it. I just stuck it in for devilment actually. As for your dreadful play on words, well, least said the better! Thanks again. Scar

You were right on target when you wrote the summary for this chapter, the clearer things became, the more confusing they got. Are there 3 'Macbeths', or only Lucius and the Riddler? Or, has MacDuff not made an appearance yet and is he real Macbeth? Posing those questions has just confused me more because I can't reconcile that with what I remember of the play. Is the Fey Lady Macbeth? Who is Banquo? I thought Draco was filling that function, but I was already confused about that anyway. I love the picture you put in my mind of William conjuring a tiny Riddler and then channeling himself in the Riddler's voice to manipulate Lucius into telling them what they needed to know. It got my imagination working overtime picturing it. The real Macbeth is the There is a place you should fix: 'Make sure that come’st not to pass, Severus,’ Merlin replied, in a quite tone that spoke of an order not to be denied, as he poked his fire so that the sparks flared and took hold of the tinder he had thrown onto it. It should be 'a quiet tone'.

Author's Response: Thanks, Trickie Woo. Macbeth's identity is a riddle all of its own, and while told in part, is not quite all revealed. MacDuff hasn't come along yet, but he'll be there soon. The story is as loosely based on the play, as the play was loosely based on history, insofar as I can't recall Merlin or the Fey being in the play, although I suspect Snape was hovering somewhere in the background. Draco is filling in for Banquo, the real article being hidden in France with Moody (Chapter 5 I think). Thanks for the beta work on quite/quiet; my brain takes a teabreak every now again. Thanks so much for your support and your comments, but most of all for reading along. Scaranda

Mmm...we've been commenting upon the more bawdy portions of the story, but it's worth mentioning how very vibrant and visual your writing is. This chapter is full of rich images, starting at the top with the Curse-breaker holding the dark spell between his hands all the way to Sirius releaving himself at the end. I see that you've compared Snape's very active appendage to Shylock from a Merchant in Venice. Interesting thought.

Author's Response: Thanks, Rose, I'm so glad you're still enjoying it, but I have to confess that the Shakespearean reference in this case was quite unintentional. Thanks for pointing it out though. Thanks also for reading and commenting; I appreciate it very much. Scar

I love the werewolf/Luna/full moon triangle.. I hadn't thought of that before. I see our Snape is back to his naughties again (thank goodness). And it'll be interesting to see if Lucius is able to do the dirty deed or if he makes Snape or Narcissa do it instead. If you're taking bets my money's on Narcissa as Lady M.

Author's Response: Thanks, Vixen. I like the Luna/lunar/werewolf bit too; it's one I might explore a bit more deeply one day. Your money's on Lady M? We'll see. Thanks again. Scaranda

So glad to see this back, I just love it. And another chapter waiting for me too!!! Don't wait make us wait as long again!! Vixen

Author's Response: Yeah, sorry about the break, Vixen. Life poked its nose in where it had no business doing so. It's all written now, so as quickly as I can tidy I'll be posting. Thanks for your support. Scar
