Reviews for Reflection

NJ Dryad 2010.12.29 - 01:11AM 1: Chapter 1 Signed
I read this several months ago, and I'm coming back for a reread (the only fanfic I've done that with, BTW). A lot of people have talked about the "ick" factor of Harry naming all his kids after dead people, but you're the only one I've seen do anything with the idea. I can certainly see how being named after St. Lily of Marysueville would be a burden for a young girl trying to find her own identity.

Author's Response: Thanks! I really wanted to deal with the idea of this little girl with such big shoes to fill. It would sense to me she would rebel. I did not want her to be anything remotely like a Mary Sue. It took time to figure "Lena" out. Thanks for reviewing! Livvy

Thanks for this fascinating story! I've only just discovered it so I haven't been leaving reviews for each chapter (read this in one go), but each chapter reads just right -- her desire to be her own person, his reluctance to become her friend, her hurt at his rejection, Harry's hostile reactions -- everything. I also enjoyed the full circle ending with Harry explaining about Prince and Princess. Well, better than naming her Lily or Lena Jr! Thanks again for the great story.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked my little plot bunny. It's hard to do anything with Lily/Severus angle and have a happy ending. Thanks! Livvy

I really enjoyed this story.. very very wonderful!

Author's Response: Thank you! It was a new concept, so I was a bit wary of putting it out there. I'm glad you are enjoying this fic! Thanks! Livvy

GAH! more like grr! lol as usual..a guy cant hold truth to his own words..i.e Frank in the bar vs his forwardness after. I really like this fic so far *continues reading*

Author's Response: LOL! So true-at least in my experience. Thanks! Livvy

was the 'Heinous Bitch' line from 10 things I Hate About You? Hehe, liking the fic so far and I'm glad I found this fic already complete so I won't have to wait for updates! xx

Author's Response: Very good!! That and the testicle reattachment. In the movie, it was a retrieval, but she's a witch, so I thought, "Why not have her hex some bloke's bits off?" I hope you keep liking it! Thanks, Livvy

Awww......it ended too soon. Your story is especially different and really good. Still, I was looking for a climatic moment between Harry and Severus when after all this time they finally admit gratitude to one another for "rescuing" each other. Harry is grateful to Severus for saving his life and Severus is grateful to Harry for making his wife.....snort......giggle. In all honesty I have several friends who married older men (including myself) and have enjoyed a higher success rate staying happily married than most of the people I know who married some one close to their own age. The greatest age gap I knew was Alberta and William Jasper Martin. She was 21 and he was 81 in 1927 when they married. I attended her 90th birthday party in 2000. I had crouched next to her wheel chair with my arm wrapped around hers with our faces just inches away and we began visiting and gossiping like two teenagers. She told me she married him ("Jasper")to run away from the intrusions and demands of her family. She and Jasper had one son, "Charlie". "Allie" leaned in closer and whispered, "And after Jasper died, I married his grandson." (He was a widower before they met.) Her blue eyes sparkled as if that was the most scandalous thing she could possibly say. She was incredibly funny and charming. She died at 97 in 2007 and I miss her.

Author's Response: Allie sounds like she was a real trailblazer. That is hilarious that she married Jasper's grandson! I bet she was positively scandalous back in the day! I can see why you would miss her. It is sad to lose a kindred spirit. I didn't want to go into the entire thing with Harry and Severus because really, the story was more about Harry and Lily (Lena). I wanted to end it on their reconciliation, but you do make a good point about the mutual "rescuing" lol! Thanks, Livvy

Good for Lena. Although I agree with Ginny, 3 months?

Author's Response: I got that from my mom. She thought she had the flu until she was almost four months. Ah, the young and ignorant! :) Thanks! Livvy

Simply marvelous, the African old lady is very wise and bossy (just like my grandma)! and I'm curious about her ways to please a man ...

Author's Response: Yes. Each culture has thier own ways and there is an earthy, sultry way about Carribean women. Then, the African women have their own ways from centuries past, so its all tried and true. Thanks, Livvy

Wow, you have amazing recipes using lemons. I sweat like I bit into a habenaro pepper. Please don't conclude this story. Not yet anyway. The maternalistic love and frankness of these Carribean women is incredibly charming. The intimately audacious things they say makes me laugh out loud. And Severus is being deferential. "Good idea Sev." Giggle.......... Your exchange between dad and daughter was so sweet in it's honesty. You showed how close they are if the first thing Harry can blurt aloud is what he is really thinking, "Was he kind and gentle." That got me. There can be some really funny and awkward moments between Harry and Severus from this point on. I do hope you keep writing. I can never quite anticipate where you will go next.

Author's Response: I am afraid you'll be disappointed. This is a love story, but the most important relationship is that of father and daughter. It will end once they reconcile. But I am sure, once Harry can stand being in the same room with Severus, it will not be very comfortable at all. Thanks! Livvy
