Reviews for Star Sisters

Agnus Castus 2009.11.07 - 10:43AM 29: XXIX: Potions and Pestering Signed
I dread to think what the consequences of Morgana's outburst will be... No doubt I'll find out in the next chapter. I absolutely adored your potion-making Snape. You gave us some beautiful imagery of the potion-making process, lovely details of ingredients and techiniques, and I could almost hear the 'loving caress' in Snape's voice being applied to his potions. I too could watch him make potions for hours, and it seems I could read chapters like this for hours on end too! Well done for creating such a wonderful recipe for Wolfsbane and Ceramite (is the latter canon, or your own invention?) and for showing Morgana's interest in Potions by asking intuitive questions, rather than being an insufferable-know-it-all. I think Snape appreciates intuitive intelligence, and both of your girls have this quality in bucketloads. I look forward to reading more.

Author's Response: We're so pleased you enjoyed reading the Potions scene as much as we loved writing it. We could have written a thousand pages about Snape brewing potions. In our universe, he loves it! Ceramite is our own invention. We got a bit carried away with the potions, hehe. And we agree, Snape values intelligence but he's always hated know-it-alls and show-offs *cough* Granger! *cough*

Oooo the plot thickens - I love the fact that Morgana has these repressed motives, which Snape has managed to unleash. I'm really hoping that Lucius gets what he deserves, he's such a fantastic baddie. Perfect love to hate material.

Author's Response: Lucius is indeed slippery and evil, but he is so much fun to write! Morgana, however, might have bitten off more than she can chew.

If anyone has ever seen 'Carry On Up the Khyber' you'll know why I found the use of tiffin so funny and so apt, as throughout the film they use the phrase 'a spot of tiffin' as a euphemism for sex. No euphemisms required here though girls!! I almost felt sorry for Snape, although he did deserve it after what he put Charis through - the bounder! I'm supposed to be getting ready for work, but I just have to read the next chapter now. Snape is not going to be a happy bunny is he?

Author's Response: The Malfoy tiffin is the stuff of legend, hehe. (And *I* seriously want some soon!) And btw, when has Snape ever been a happy bunny??? He's going to be even more of a cantankerous raven now.

'Twenty points to Ravenclaw,Ms Byrne, ...for your eagerness to please.' Priceless Severus. I can really imagine him saying that - What a git! Is she going to tell Morgana what happened? Potions class might be a tad awkward after this encounter - poor Charis - I really feel for her.

Author's Response: Snape can be so cruel. And Charis is very niave. That niavety unfortunately gets her into a lot of trouble. Keep on reading and you'll see.

Detention with Snape! Now that's a scenario we've all fantasised over. I think Morgana might be in danger of getting her over-confident fingers burned.

Author's Response: Even the most diligent students cannot resist detention with the Potions master. And some get more than their fingers burnt.

I have just read your first chapter and enjoyed it immensly - a very promising start. I like your two main characters, and the contrast between the two of them makes their friendship an interesting prospect. I also like the comparisons to Snape and Lily's friendship and the fact that Severus sees some of his younger self in Morgana and some of Lily in Charis. Well done for not falling for the temptation of putting Charis in Gryffindor by the way. I look forward to reading more and wonder how their mutual and understandable attraction for their Potions teacher affect their strong friendship.

Author's Response: Hi and welcome! Thank you for making the effort to review. They really do make us smile like kids at Christmas. We hope you'll like our story and that you stick with it, because the plot most definitely thickens!

Lovely to see a touch of Astronomy in this chapter - it's a favourite of mine, and I've always felt cheated that Astronomy lessons never really had prominence in JKR's books. I hope Charis' family tree serves her well when Blood Status becomes a prerequisite for Hogwarts in a year or so's time... I thought Jack and Snape were great in this chapter, and I had to smirk when Snape invented his novel dose-form for the morning sickness potion. Thank goodness he didn't suggest an alternative route of administration... OK, I'll stop there! Oh, and by the way, you'd get tonnes of plus points from me if Daddy Malfoy got kicked in the groin. I really dislike Lucius, incase you hadn't noticed :-)

Author's Response: Charis blood status: all will be revealed! Jack is a sweetheart, and so is Snape when he's not snarky and cranky. They've both been fun to write. And as for Malfoy - well, let's just say we're not done with that Death Eater just yet.

Lucius really does seem to be the only one enjoying himself, and he is the person who least deserves to. Anyway, I loved the description of Snape brewing Wolfsbane - it truly evoked the subtle science and exact art of potion-making. I too would enjoy watching the Potion master at work. So, Snape has now convinced himself that he needs to snog another student... for her own good? Blimey, it's a tough old world! Hehe. Gross misconduct aside, it's a shame he couldn't let himself go and enjoy the moment. But of course that would require feeling something, and he'd never allow himself that luxury. Great story ladies, you've got me hooked.

Author's Response: Don't we all enjoy it when Lucius is enjoying himself? And Morgana was certainly treated that evening - first a private Potion lesson, then a smooch... We are thrilled that you're hooked and hope you come back for more soon!

Ailura Hkr 2009.10.25 - 04:39PM 31: XXXI: How to Handle a Snake Signed
Dear Star Sisters, Yes, "Occlumency" is still alive, as there are people all over the world reading its stories. I chose the snake-chapter to write this review, because I liked this chapter most of all. As a zoologist living in the South AfricanKaroo, I often have seen, sometimes killed, and sometimes also handled those fascinating creatures, mainly the highly venomous Puffadder (they are anything but harmless!), the Cape Cobra, and, lo and behold, the Boomslang, so highly rated by Potion Masters. Reading your story is fun, and it does have a fair amount of suspense. Still, only seven of ten points for the lemon, at places rather forcefully squeezed into the plot. Do you really think any virgin would expose herself and masturbate openly just because her beloved teacher tells her to do so? I think this is rather far fetched, as well as the Zabini-chapter. Best regards Ailura van Honingkrantz

Author's Response: Dear Ailura Hkr, this is the beauty of fiction, isn't it? Forcefully squeezing lemons in all the wrong places and letting dark Potion masters seduce innocent virgins in the dark dungeons. Everything's possible at a magical place like Hogwarts. Nice to hear that you finished the story even if there were parts you did not enjoy, and for that we thank you.

Agnus Castus 2009.10.24 - 05:11PM 24: XXIV: Lost Signed
Occlumency is very much alive, and so am I after reading this chapter - it was beautiful. For me, this was one of those rare moments when a writer really nails Severus's character, writing a sexual scene in a credible way. It's so hard to do this in a canon-compliant story, such is his all-encompassing love for Lily, but you have navigated this obstacle admirably. And, I tend to agree with him; Charis does deserve better at this moment in time. Hairy-hearted wizards cannot always be saved, and she will most likely be badly hurt. Not that his warning will stop her, of course. It didn't stop me...

Author's Response: Snape is such a complex character - he craves tenderness so much and yet he shys away from it at the same time. As much as he feels guilty for using Charis, he cannot resist what she is offering him, especially now he has tasted that forbidden fruit. He's just a man, after all... We are glad you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to come back to our story.
