“Could he daily feel a stab of hunger for her, and find nourishment in the very sight of her? I think so. But would she see through the bars of his plight and ache for him?” -Dante's Vita Nuova

Author's Response: That is a very lovely quote. Alas, I think the answer is "no".

Short and sweet. Severus finally gets what he has due.

Author's Response: Wow, I had all but forgotten about that drabble. Thank you for reading and reminding me of it. Glad you liked it.

Interesting. Has the sort of terse style of a collected folktale.

Author's Response: I take that as a compliment.

I'm pleased that, in your view, James and St. Lily aren't in heaven. They don't belong there either. The afterlifve in either place must be boring, a soul is bundle of pure energy when it leaves the shell of a body. I prefer re-incarnation to an afterlife, myself, I believe in Karma.

Author's Response: Huh, Karma? I'm so going to Hell ... ;-) Btw, I know exactly where James and Lily are, but I didn't dare say it out loud here *whistles innocently*

I hope he let him go back to a life that was free of all obligations and became a long and happy one with the love of a good woman and several offspring and grandchildren. He's a wizard, with his lifespan he could live to see great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren. I hope he does. Why isn't Sirius in Hell too? Unpunished attempted murder deserves that kind of eternity for him.

Author's Response: Oh Sirius is sweating down there as well, together with certain other Gryffindors. They just didn't fit in 100 words ;-) Glad to have you back, Trickie! /M

Yes, it was definitely a waste. Quite unfortunate, since the "Heaven" in JKR's world leaves Severus watching the love of his life happy with the love of her life. Hell either way.

Author's Response: In MY world, neither James nor Lily went to heaven. *ducks, since tons of people are throwing heavy objects at me now*

I'm almost sad that even the Devil himself didn't want Severus. Well done!

Author's Response: Naw, but Severus didn't deserve going to hell, now did he? He has had hell on earth. /M
