Author's Response: It was a first for me, but I was surprised how well it turned out. /M

Though your story is beautiful, no, I don't see them being attracted to each other. I believe their interaction to be totally as good friends through Lucius. I believe Lucius mentored Severus and that is why they chose him to be Draco's Godfather. I feel it is more a 'my husband is your closest friend so you're like a brother to me' kind of thing. But like I said before, your story is beautiful in it's AU kind of way.

Author's Response: Is Snape Draco's godfather in canon? I seriously start to get things mixed up! *worried* Severus/Narcissa is a couple I cannot decide upon. It very much depends on my mood. Today, I am in the "no way"-mood. Glad you liked the piece.

I think your story, on its own merits, is credible. And I also think it was very well written and touching. I've always thought there was some sort of bond between Snape and Narcissa -- if not the bond of lovers, at least that of dear friends. They were both abused by LV, and they both defied him. Snape lost his loved one; Narcissa nearly lost hers. In an odd, psychological way, they are kind of a match, even though it has always seemed to me that their respective true loves have been in other directions. (I've written a Snape/Narcissa story; but I think of the coupling, even in context, as an aberration.) Not to be too graphic, but Snape's being unable to "finish" seemed to symbolize his commmitment to another, as well as his ambivalence. Although I am inclined to see Narcissa a little differently (I see her as stronger than Lucius), I thought you captured her emotional life really nicely. I enjoyed the story a lot.

Author's Response: We thank you for your comments ad wish you Happy Holidays. /star_girl&morgaine

Yeah, I think this is a very credible angle. In canon HBP when Narcissa goes to Snape it does not read "even though Narcissa found Snape to be be an ugly, greasy git whom she reviled ....". She is not repulsed by SS, she grasps his hand, etc. I share your views, and I believe Snape and Narcissa make a very likely couple to pair as they don't have to have daily contact in text.I totally agree with your line on Lucius being a philanderer,(faithful husband he is not). Snape the Protector seeking redress from Lucius, apt once more. Snape being imperfect (falling for a married woman) true to his innermost being. Well done, I believe Snape and Nacissa have had an affair as well.

Author's Response: We thank you very much for your opinion. And we're glad you liked our little story. Cheers. /morgaine&star_girl

Reviewer: Rose of the West Signed [Report This] Date: 06/12/08 - 04:41 pm Title: Chapter 1 Hmmm.... I've always thought it was because he had already made the promise to Dumbledore. Clearly in the scene in HBP he felt differently about Narcissa and Bella, though. I'd say your theory is as likely as any I've heard. Author's Response: Cheers, Rose. /star_girl & morgaine_dulac
