Reviews for A Spy's Fate

CareCrystal 2008.12.09 - 08:18PM 17: Chapter 17: Found Out Signed
Reviewer: Rose of the West Signed [Report This] Date: 12/11/08 - 04:46 pm Title: Chapter 17: Found Out I think there's a level where Dumbledore, at the age of 140/150 years, figures that since he gave up so much of his life and his one true love for the sake of "the greater good", everyone else should be coerced into doing it too. Never mind that no one forced HIM to make those choices...

Author's Response: You know, I've thought a lot about Dumbledore. Not as much as I've thought about Snape, but... anyway. That's a point I had never considered. I think you're very right. If he gave up so much, why shouldn't everyone else? That really sheds a new light on him. It's not more favorable, just better understood.

Reviewer: Trickie Woo Signed [Report This] Date: 12/11/08 - 04:15 pm Title: Chapter 17: Found Out I don't understand the old SOB's reasoning for keeping it secret from Severus, especially when he went to Dumbledore to tell him what had just happened. Dumbledore should have let him in on the fact the Bree and Lucius were espionage agents and that the kiss he saw when he went in that room was part of their cover. It would have made things easier all round and Severus would know the defense of Hogwarts and the Order attacking the Deatheaters in retaliation was still going to be a surprise. That way no plans would have to have been changed at all and everything would be right with Severus and Bree. But the old SOB just can't keep from messing about with people's lives, can he?

Author's Response: No, he really can't. He doesn't want his 'prize' spy compromised. As if such knowledge would ever be given up by Severus Snape, Occlumens extraordinaire. It's more of the mentality that everyone does their own secret dance and all of the parts never know what the other parts are up to. To Dumbledore, it's on a need to know basis. He doesn't like his whole hand exposed to anyone. That can sometimes be seen as a self-preservation thing, but with Dumbledore, I think it's more of a manipulation/control thing. The man has a God complex, I think. He totally gets off on controlling people's lives to the point of destroying them.

Author's Response: Isn't that the truth! He doesn't care anyway. It's all about the plan. The plan, the plan, the plan. Personal heartbreak is nothing when it comes to accomplishing the plan.
