Reviews for Two Sides Against the Middle

Now that's exactly why I am not going to have children ;-)

Author's Response: There are trade offs to every state in life. ;) I think Emily's nausea is as much related to the stress of the world around her and life with an ambivalent husband as it is to being pregnant, too. She's actually had it worse and longer than most women do.

A friend and I have a bet going that this will all end in tears. Sure, I'd like to win, but I'd also like a happy ending. Oh where are you going with this?

Author's Response: I'm hoping that it's a bit like life, some tears, some joy, but overall I hope everyone will be better off...well with a few exceptions. Thank you!

Poor Emily. I can surely feel for her. She reminded me of myself, pregnant with my now 15 year old. Six months of throwing up and three more of dry heaves. I didn't feel normal until she was born. It made life interesting!

Author's Response: I've been fortunate in that my bouts with morning sickness got progressively worse until they stopped on a dime at 15/16 weeks. The last one and this one haven't been bad at all, knock on wood! I think Emily is a little heartsick and this is how it comes out. Thank you for the reviews!

So will it count as joining the DE's if Severus goes in as a spy for Dumbledore? He's not 'really' a DE, but he's branded as one. I guess it will depend on what the 'spirit' of the vow is.

Author's Response: Does he have the same Dark Mark as everyone else? There's not much description in cannon that I recall. My solution to this problem does go off into AU land a bit, too.

I'm rather allergic to wedding scenes, but even I have to admit that this was very sweet. And I loved the mothers! /M

Author's Response: Thank you! I was hoping that by making it more or less from Snape's POV I could avoid what tends to make weddings difficult to read.

These two women are quite the matriarchs! They did a wonderful job in a weeks time. I'm surprised that the Marauders behaved. It was nice to see Severus' admiration, if not true love, for his bride.

Author's Response: Perhaps the forceful personality of Margo even influenced the Marauders. I picture one of those women people just obey because it saves trouble. ;) Meanwhile Severus is already aware of feeling many of the elements of a true lasting love for Emily, he just hasn't added it up, yet.

How can two intelligent people be so stupid? Getting knocked up? For goodness sake! But the line: 'I can't promise to be the happiest of men, or make you the happiest of women, but I think we can be happy enough.' was just beautiful and so, so sweet! Cheers. /M

Author's Response: Thank you! They never expected themselves to be in the sort of position where it would be an issue. Neither Severus nor Emily did at the start of the evening. Sirius never would have let it happen. As a sort of a hint about the story, I had to get another witch or wizard into the room with them somehow.

Well, that was unexpected. For being such a smart man, Severus is incredibly stupid. It was nice of him to offer to marry her, and good that he wants his child to have a happy life, but come on! He can't get her out of his mind and wants to Obliviate himself? That just screams dunderhead to me! Maybe she'd be better with Sirius? (I kid, I kid.)

Author's Response: Thank you! We can't be happy with _every_ choice he makes. He IS a dunderhead about these things. Since he's sure it's not love he thought it best to Obliviate. Failing that option, he will go for what he expects will be a loveless marriage.

morgaine_dulac's right. Snape's being an idiot. What can you say, obsessed is obsessed. But all in all, Sirius got what was coming to him. It's hard to tell what he really felt for Emily. You've written that quite well. I think he cared for her, but was looking at her as more of a conquest. Conquest lost. Need I say more?

Author's Response: I don't think he really had feelings for Emily or any girl. His family can't have been a good example of what a young man would want to have for the rest of his life. Thanks for the review!

In your face, Sirius Black. And Severus Snape: you're an idiot! (Did I just say that?!) /M

Author's Response: Oh, but he is! It's always the smart kids who are dumb about stuff like this! ;)
