Reviews for Two Sides Against the Middle

Why do I suddenly have a very bad feeling about all this? *shudders*

Author's Response: Because they're enjoying themselves? Because the first war is just getting going? Thank you for the review!

Who else had eyes like the baby's? Arianna?

Author's Response: Well, it's really up to interpretation, since Dumbledore would have known a great many people in his life, but I was thinking Arianna. Thanks for the review!

Well, at least Dumbledore gave him an out that didn't include becoming a true Death Eater.

Author's Response: I want to think he never really was a true Death Eater.

You did a very good job at putting all the pieces together. Cheers. /M

Author's Response: Thank you! I've often thought that Trelawney got a lucky break.

'We gave each other Hope.' Now that is just a beautiful line. And I'm sure your beta Trickie did a happy dance when she saw your stab at Saint Lily. So did I *evil grin*

Author's Response: Thank you! I enjoyed writing that passage. I think Trickie liked it quite a bit. Severus never once in cannon tells Lily off and she tells him off regularly. Not a healthy relationship. It was nice to make Lily the one who wasn't so sure of herself for a few minutes as well as the one who was envious of Emily. I hope it adds some balance to all three relationships.

I guess a lot of your readers will be angry with Severus' for his attitude. But I still feel sorry for him. He didn't want any of this.

Author's Response: It was a pretty controversial chapter, but I thought it was important to show that he still had a lot of conflicting feelings and thoughts. And, the fact of the matter is, regardless of whatever else happens in cannon or out of it, Harry Potter will always be the symbol of Snape's greatest disappointment ever.

Thank heavens she's alright, and the baby is too. It took her quite a while to actually feel sorry for herself. I admire her strength. And finally, Severus sees the light! Think of how horrid he would have felt if Emily had died in childbirth. Oh, and the name Hope is so beautiful for so many reasons.

Author's Response: Thanks! I think Severus just needed a firm nudge in the right direction. Emily has a bit of an inferiority complex that isn't entirely gone which is why she was so willing to accept to little. I shudder to think at what he would have done if she had died. It's a good thing I never intended to find out. ;) Our little bonder just _is_ Hope, although not everyone will use that name for her.

It's kind of upsetting that the first pregnant woman Severus thinks of when hearing the prophecy is Lily. Of course, Emily is probably due way before that, but nonetheless, you'd think it would cross his mind. Will he be forced to tell Voldie the prophecy, I wonder?

Author's Response: Emily is going to have the baby months too soon. I wonder, indeed, evil grin.

Don't take this the wrong way, but Severus is an idiot. He has this woman that adores him, provides him him with knock-out sex, and is pregnant with his child. So who cares what Lily and James are doing? I'm kind of worried about the prophesy, when is Emily's baby due?

Author's Response: Emily's baby is imminent; they got pregnant during the middle of the summer; their baby is not the child of the prophecy. Meanwhile, a due date is an approximation. Any kid born within three weeks before and two weeks after is considered perfectly on time, so you see I gave Severus a false sense of security on that front. I'm pretty sure this is beta reader Trickie Woo's least favorite passage because of Snape's attitude. She forgave me, though, by way of a hint.

I just realized I hadn't reviewed the last few chapters. I am so sorry. Poor Emily, I'm concerned this won't turn out well. I can see how events in your story could turn for the worse and result in Snape becoming the unpleasant man of the stories. Great story and I look forward to more.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review and for continuing to read! I think the unfortunate thing about Snape's life is that he was bound to be pursued by certain forces and that they would always affect his life. His choices could change the degree of the effect, but he couldn't really avoid it altogether.
