I've always wondered why the Magical world didn't make more use of the pensieve. They have to be a wonderful thing for mental hygiene, especially if you could just take out all the disturbing memories and then bottle them up and put them on a shelf. There are dark memories of things that have happened in my life that I'd love to be able to handle that way. I'm sure that everyone has some dark disturbing memories and that depositing those memories in a pensieve would be of great benefit to them. I can just imagine how functional the world would be if we could do that and live without being haunted by those memories. They would still be there in the pensieve or in bottles on a shelf and you could go revisit them if you had a reason or a need to do that. It would change the lives of good people immensely for the better and bad or evil persons would have another chance to start over and make something productive of their lives if they were smart enough to take that chance.
Author's Response: It's people's memories and experiences who make them what they are; to be able to leave nasty ones on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time would be to lack responsibility for them somehow, especially if the nasty memories involved acts of cruelty inflicted by that person. However, it would be a useful counselling/therapy tool if you could revisit bad memories from many angles. But you'd have to feel brave enough to confront them head-on. This is were dear Severus is having problems; some nasty memories are so well-buried he's scared to confront them. But confront them, he will... |

I wonder how long it will take her to figure out Severus' past. There must be a lot of things written about him in history books.
Author's Response: I think you're right, but she hasn't had reason to enter Hogwarts library yet, and she hasn't had time to finish the revised history. |

His memories are definitely the worst thing he needs to worry about and unless he resolves them, he will have a hard time doing much of anything. Hasn't she read about some of that yet in Hogwarts: a history? That would be the first chapter I read, if I was sleeping with the guy.
Author's Response: Shes making her way slowly through the tome, in between work, coaching and Snape-filled (literally!) weekends... |

Fun lesson! Why does she need to be sorted?
Author's Response: Tradition of the school. I'm curious to hear Snape's sorting. Wonder what the hat said to him? |

So Ollivander has enough misgivings to send a note about the wand...either after the twin Phoenix core situation he's gotten squeemish, or there could be a problem down the road...

Yesyesyesssss you took the doe away! Thank you!!
Author's Response: Had to be done! And it made sense to me, about the memory used affecting the Patronus. We can't have Evans getting in the way now! |

Just read your respond to Trickie's review. What do you mean, there's a plot? Why? haha Honestly, I am very curious where the story is going. /M
Author's Response: Why the plot? I can't honestly say. It's all the plot fairy's fault. She keeps getting hair-brained ideas, and I merely follow ;) |

Couldn't he go to London to visit her, maybe take her on a Muggle date? He could rent a room for a few days and they could resolved some of the sexual tension that's bound to occur after being separated a few days. I'm really pleased that his patronis was not a doe.
Since Lily's doe was the mate to James's stag, I never saw JKR's logic in making Severus's patronis a doe.
Author's Response: And spoil Sarah's visit of her long-absent friends? I couldn't do that. Absence makes the heart (and loins!) grow fonder anyhow, hehe.
I never liked the doe either, but I can see it from the point of view that, if the choice of happy memory is what determines your Patronus, then Lily was his happy memory for so long. In this story, Snape's changed to a Thestral as his happy memory now is waking up alive in St Mungo's, with the knowledge Voldermort had fallen. |
