Reviews for The Man With the Missing Past

LaBibliographe 2008.05.29 - 12:26PM 7: Chapter Seven Signed
Oh, this just gets better and better. I love how your story dovetails with canon, but goes beyond the 'death' to a much more plausible explanation. JKR missed a wonderful plot point there. So it was Pansy Parkinson who fills Snape in on his past, what there was of it that she knew. His next stop will be Harry I suppose. How did he know how to obliviate Pansy? Was that part of his basic knowledge, like eating, drinking, walking? Poor Jemima, clutching at straws to keep Snape just a little longer. Does she have what it takes to make him sit up and really see her for a possible match? WOULD she be a match for him? She seems kind of weak to be standing up to his steely personality. I guess I have to wait and see. But at least Snape is moving forward into his future. Yay! Great chapter. I liked it a lot!!

Author's Response: I think amnesiacs are often able to things like reading, writing, even driving - so I'd say magic was in that category of stuff that has become second-nature to Snape. Without his memories, I see Severus as being a little mellower - though no less formidable - and more open to a relationship.

Very cool fic, very interesting! I really like Jemima. Look forward to more!

Author's Response: Thanks, javoher - it's a challenge to write an OFC who is 'real' and likeable so I really appreciate your comment.

This story was good, and it is getting better and better! Snape is recovering his memories, little by little, and now someone from the wizarding world has recognised him!

Author's Response: Thanks very much, alicebs, I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

"Nemo's" first foray outside the hospital and he's almost gutted. I didn't know he had his wand. I'm surprised that the people who picked him up even kept it for him (if they saw it at all). I need a fanwank on this. He's let Jemima sees his 'difference' and scrounged through her mind. Did he see she fancied him? Oooh, who is coming toward him? Who recognizes him? An evil cliffie. Poor Jemima, slidng down that slippery slope toward the bottom where we are all languishing. Snape-o-philes caught in his mesmerizing web. I wonder if I would still think he was so exciting if he had the voice of Mickey Mouse? He IS compelling to look at - it may be the nose for me. Great chapter, advancing us toward his real world - slowly. I wonder how Jemima will fit in? LaBib

Author's Response: In chapter 2 Jemima and her consultant discuss the 2 items found on his person - his wand and a bezoar - and then Jemima is encouraged to give them back to him, to see if they jog his memory. I don't think canon ever explains where Snape keeps his wand, but I always assumed it was up his sleeve somewhere, and would have been there at the time of the confrontation with Voldemort. (Somehow I don't think the Mickey Mouse voice would work the same magic!!)

AH you had him recognized! I wonder what that will lead too! He could be thrown into Azkaban for pretrial knowing the Ministry. Gads this is good! My only wish is that the chapters were coming faster! I can't wait till you post the next one.

Author's Response: There are many more possibilities with an alive Snape than a dead one - if only certain writers agreed with us!

Squeee! This is soo good! I loved the way Snape took care of that asshat. He was just so masterful. *swoon* I think Jemima felt the same way too.

She is now onto his secret though. It sounds like she is thoroughly confounded too. It must be the most exhilarating ride of her life. I mean I know it would be for me. lol

You have left us with a cliffhanger though. Who has just recognized him I wonder?

Excellent chapter Shez! I don’t know if I can wait till your next post.

Author's Response: Next post is here - and you will find out who the mystery girl is.

This story is getting better and better with each chapter. I LOVE it! Jemima (I think I finally got her name right) and Severus make a good match. I like this "mentally naked" version of Severus without the baggage of his past. You can see him as he is - snarky, brilliant, and passionate. I really look forward to more.

I loved Severus' reaction to the "stick and the stone"! So clasic and so snarky. I also like how you have Jemima really caring about him underneath it all. She doesn't what him to be faking...she wants him to be a real case - however cranky.

greenwood 2008.05.18 - 05:47PM 2: Chapter Two Signed
Very very good second chapter! You really have Severus down to the snarkiest detail. I loved the discription of his eys and his voice. I felt that I was there next to Jemima listening to him "slice and dice" away.

Author's Response: Thanks for all your reviews, greenwood - yes, 'snarky, brilliant and passionate' - I was excited by the idea of Snape laid bare, without the bitter layers of his past. I thought he'd be far more attractive than Rowling ever gave him credit for!

SweetSnapess 2008.05.17 - 03:59AM 5: Chapter Five Signed
Another excellent chapter. I am really enjoying they way their relationship is developing. It is very realistic for the situation they are in.

Author's Response: Thanks, SweetSnapess - I wasn't sure how easy I'd find it to write a heroine who was his own age and a very independent, self-assured character, but I found I really enjoyed the challenge.
