Reviews for Wolf's Moon

NoxSomnium 2008.03.20 - 09:10PM 9: Unexpected Revelations Signed
Oh. My. Goodness. I think this is the first time I'm glad I haven't been able to check Sycophant in months. I don't know what I would have done if I had to wait longer than hitting the submit button to read chapter ten. Squealed a lot probably.

Author's Response: If you're waiting for the "great confrontation" (as many of my readers did), you might be disappointed. They battle they are going to fight is one that will only lead to victory if they fight it together. Thank you! Cúthalion

Oh no! Behold I am surprised. Werewolf I guessed, Greyback not so much until Neville and Harry were talking about it. Severus not making it there in time to protect her from infection, definitely a surprise. That's an interesting twist. :) But then, you already knew that.

Author's Response: Blame that nasty twist with the waning moon on my beta. *grins* That certainly gave me some ideas that you will find out more about in later chapters. Thank you! *huge smile* Cuthalion

I love that he smiles. Now if they would just pay attention. It's driving me nuts! I know, they won't have a choice soon.

Author's Response: This chapter drove me nuts while writing it, I assure you. And of course it was meant to be a nail biter, and I had to rack my brain (and that of my marvelous beta) to make the whole thing work. Thank you so much! Cúthalion

Well, I can't say I'm surprised there just happens to be a mysterious evil threat to Harry's family, but I think I decided to like Ezra as soon as he was mentioned. I didn't even get to know him very well, just well enough to decide he was adorable. Sadness. But, that's the way fiction goes. I had forgotten you said someone would die in this chapter. You did say that didn't you? I thought so. Anyway. Next

Author's Response: Yes, I said that someone would die... and yes again, I like Ezra, too. I love to give my characters a history and enough "flesh" to be believable... even if they only appear in one single chapter and are murdered almost immediately. *grins* Thanks so much for reading and reviewing! Great chapter! Good insights from Snape on facing fears. And I like Harry being very ambivalent about how he feels about Snape. In spite of his "posthumous" defense of Snape, I'd expect him to be quite suspicious or unsure of the actual person in the flesh.

Author's Response: Exactly. IMHO it's much easier to hail a hero (and to ignore his rather... erh... difficult character) if the person in question was considerate enough to pass away. *grins* To handle a Snape/Seeker who's actually alive is much more complicated. Thank you! Cúthalion

I love that moment of revelation for Harry.

Author's Response: Me too! It was a nice way to slowly unravel the mystery in Harry's mind, and it took me quite a bit of time to figure out what it is that finally gives Snape away. Thank you very much! Cúthalion

Well, you certainly do the action sequences well! Great pace.

Author's Response: Thank you! And concerning action sequences and pace - I have a great and highly critical beta me mercilessly makes me rewrite what she doesn't buy. That may be exhausting at times, but it certainly adds to the quality of the tale. *smiles* Cúthalion

I love the weaving of what's going on in the muggle world around them in with the narrative. It's starting to read a bit like a good mystery novel.

Author's Response: Thank you! What a lovely compliment! Cúthalion

I'm surprised I haven't seen this story before now, but I discovered it today and am really enjoying it! There are only a few good OCs in HP that work well with Snape and your Ruta is quite a good one. I love the gentle pace and the gradual unveiling of events. And the exciting ending to this chapter adds a nice edge of suspense to the story.

Author's Response: That was the challenge from the beginning, of course - to create an OFC that might be actually convincing; no Half-Veela, Half-Phoenix whatever, but an ordinary woman who turns out to be quite special while the story goes on. I'm very glad that you find her believable! Cúthalion
