Reviews for Interviews

really nicely done! How terrific to have a little glimpse into the beginnings of that most interesting relationship.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. A most interesting relationship, yes, and one we can argue about--even internally. I have a sneaking suspicion I'm channeling Albus as Severus wished him to be, not as he was, in the second interview....

this was a wonderful imagining of these two scenes. i think you captured snape and dumbledore both very well. great job!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review and the compliment--I worked hard on the tone and characters.

Very well written. I have noticed that there are a few folks writing "gap" stories that fill in those areas that cannon did not let us see. Now that we know all of what cannon will give us there have been some wonderful muses out there filling the minds of brilliant writers like yourself with stories that feel credible and let us see "what might have taken place when..." I liked how you drew Dumbledores character. He was so himself (very cannon like) and acted kind, all knowing, and careful of Severus. He could read him very well. As for Severus, you painted him well too. He was such a prat to Tralarney (sp?) when he first meets her. Very well done.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, everything I've written so far is a "gap" story. I had fun playing with the POV in these two--and the change in Severus. (Although I'd use a word stronger than "prat" regarding his treatment of Trelawney....) Glad you think my character treatment is canon; I waver a bit about Dumbledore, myself, but I think overall he manipulated Snape in a positive way. Thanks for reviewing--and for the compliments!

Good story. I liked your way of explaining why Dumbledore didn't just obliviate Snape and Snape's viewpoint that Dumbledore's ethical considerations would keep Snape safe.

Author's Response: Know your enemies' weaknesses.... Poor Severus--later, of course, he would wish Dumbledore HAD killed him then.... But you can't say he didn't deserve what he got.

Fastinating missing POV! I like how you had it all play out, including the snobbery against Trelawney that cost him the position, and how Voldy was waiting for him to get the job. How proud he was in his supposed upper hand! Having Severus eye's dancing with mirth is an unforgettable picture. I like too how you have Dumbledore, and how he is cornered at this time. Great job.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review! I'm pleased you caught my favorite parts. Re: Dumbledore being cornered, I was trying and trying to think why he didn't just Obliviate the listener--oh, duh! Re: Trelawney--I hope that's not what cost him the position--that it just cut the process way short. I mean, one hopes Dumbledore would have seen through Snape anyhow...?

This is beautifully written! Congratulations.

Author's Response: Thank you! I worked hard and had a good beta (who's currently reading Second Interview...). Appreciate the comment.
