I thought that the beach and ship idea were nicely done, though if did remind me of the Lord of the Rings. I thought that the conversation between Lily and Snape was well done, and appreciate this bit: "Do you know that when I died (in terrible pain, I might add)... It seemed to me that "that awful boy" on the playground hadn't changed in his relationship to Lily. Very bittersweet, that phrase. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting... You pass some pretty harsh judgment on Severus' version of love, but in the end, I guess you're right: He was stuck in the "I love you because I need you" phase of love and never got past it (though he might have, with time). Still, I like the idea of Lily coming to guide him and I love the idea of a beach where we all must sit and decide if we're brave enough to embrace eternity. I'm not sure about the "Amazing Grace" quote at the end, though - it teeters on the brink of cheesiness, even though it does underscore your theme quite well. Oh well, what do I know? On balance, very well-written and enjoyable
Author's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review! It made me think. I want to clarify that *Lily* passes harsh judgment on Severus' brand of love, because she doesn't quite realize at first that 17 years have passed and he *has* changed. I think at the end when he asks Lily to forgive him, and she says yes, and he accepts that forgiveness, that is when both characters have finally got to the point where they need to be...and the ship appears.

Excellent job. Very poignant follow up to the first fic (which I surprisingly liked even more than this one).
