What a chapter! And the masterful way you had Snape escape! The way he had Petunia ensnared with his eyes at chapter's end was intriguing, both times. Firstly, with his visible pain, and the way it gave rise to her feelings of vulnerability (deeply felt need for a brother), then secondly, when his eyes glittered and he was chanting the spell (an entirely different vulnerability, this one negative). Wow--what a chapter! Thank you for your fine writing. |

I *love* this chapter. I'm so happy you didn't restate Dumbldore's death, it would have been unneccessary baggage in the telling of your story. How convincingly you've connected Snape and Petunia all along, but the culmination here is so heart-rending. Her need for a brother -- and that smile! At first reading I thought it was menacing, but later I realized it was something else entirely. Your plotting is ingenious, too, wrapping up the Malfoys, Wormtail, and bringing back the rosebushes. Well done! |

Oh, that insidious Snape! It disturbs me to think of Petunia's blood coursing through his veins, but what the heck. He got what he needed in an ingenious way. Looking forward to more Fleagle, more rat torture and well, just more Grainne goodness and surprises. :-)
Author's Response: I don't suppose it would have occurred to Snape to just turn up and ask for a donation to the blood bank, would it? ;-)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! |

I hope that Draco and Narcissa are able to escape cleanly. Transfiguring Wormtail is fitting justice. It certainly seems that Snape's plan is working, and it will be interesting to see more of the fallout from this blood transfusion. I also like how you mentione that Snape is more of an equal and an ally then Vernon is.
Author's Response: Thank you for taking the time to read and leave feedback! |

AAAaRGHHH! WANT MORE!
(My humble apologies for the incoherence of this abysmally poor excuse for a review, but it's half past one at night, I have been reading three blood-curdling, amazing, thrilling chapters, and so I do not think I can be expected to be eloquent at this point ;P.)
Oh, oh, oh. Insidious!
Author's Response: I've rendered Sigune incoherent?
I can't imagine a better compliment! ;-)
Thank you so much for reading! |

I wondered what he needed to complete the magic. Blood freely given is powerful indeed -- phooey to Voldemort.
At this part -- "Insufferable, stupid, thoughtless boy! He could ruin anything, it seemed, even a good death fantasy" -- I just had to laugh. It's so very Snape.
Author's Response: I'm so happy you noticed that contrast--phooey to Voldemort, indeed! :D
Thanks, Deeble. |
