Reviews for Insidious

Good heavens, I love Fleagle. I had to re-read a little to put myself into the story mentally, and was struck afresh by the house elf's speech--the Dumblehead! Marvelous!

Author's Response: Thank you, Jenonymous! I love Fleagle dearly; I'm glad he has another admirer. (And I do apologise for the posting delays; I know it makes it hard to follow stories like this. Updates should be quicker from now on.)

Oh dear, I'd forgotten to review this when I read it. The details of what I enjoyed have faded a bit, but I really am fond of Fleagle. (If even Snape is a very small bit fond of him, that's saying something.)

As for the "Do I now love Potter as a father is meant to love his son" line -- I see what amr's saying, but I came to it with the suspicion that this potion has in some way linked Snape and Harry. Is it an attempt at transference, so Harry retains the blood-protection once he's left the Dursleys? Has it made the two blood relatives, in other words? I've no clue, but I will happily wait for it to be revealed.

Author's Response: I'm so pleased to hear that you're fond of Fleagle (I was so fond of him that I lifted him from another story I wrote, but house-elf characters can be irritating to many)! To be honest, I had never even considered the Snape-as-Harry's-father angle, so I've learned a good lesson there. As for your questions...*Silencios Self* ;-) Thanks for the review, Deeble!

Another enjoyable, and mysterious, chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you, MMADfan--I'm glad to hear you are still enjoying!

So many lovely bits of narration in this chapter. I love the inventive ways in which you describe sunlight, the passage of months, etc. And the delicious alliteration, of course. It's all these little extra touches that I notice and admire.

Author's Response: Thank you--I love that you notice!

I liked all the F-words. An interesting chapter, though I still have no idea what the plan with Petunia is--a state I suspect you are putting us in intentionally. And of course I loved Wormtail's attempts to order his collection from the basement without attention to provenience. Are you an archaeologist? You sounded a bit like one there.

One quibble--Snape's sarcastic line "Do I now love Potter as a father is meant to love his son?” sounds like a hugely obvious clue to those of us who've read all those Snape-is-actually-Harry's-father stories. I suspect that this is not a direction you really mean to go, and if that is the case, it is a bit distracting.

Thanks, as always, for posting another clever, well-written, intriguing chapter.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you pointed this out to me--I have never read a Snape-as-Harry's-father story. I do know about them, but obviously not enough to realise how a line like that would play out! It is a clue of sorts here, but more than that it is something that would make sense for Snape to say in this situation, given what he is trying to accomplish. More than that I won't say, but rest assured that I am not positing that Snape is Harry's father, and please accept my apology for the unwitting distraction. Oh, and I have, indeed, put in some time with The Order of the Trowel ;-)
