Reviews for Metanoia: The Conversion of Severus Snape

It reads pretty well, and the character seem consistent with Rowling's. Still, I would have pictured Snape for killing his father himself: but I have an idea where this is headed.......

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! Yes, I could see that too. For this story, Snape is not a cold-blooded murderer at age 18, but I am sure a believable scenario where he *is* could be written. I would not be surprised if JKR told us he did kill his own dad!

Very, very well done! This reads so cannon like - smooth and snarky at the same time. You have Malfoy down pat and young Severus is just too cannon to be true. I could really imagine all these things happening. If so, it would mean that Severus had a hand in the death of his father...his first "sin" into the world of gnawing guilt and indebt to Malfoy (bad..bad..bad). I look forward to more.

Author's Response: Yes, Severus is going to come to regret his indebtedness to Malfoy, though perhaps not enough to do anything about it, LOL. As for guilt....I think he will stay in denial over that for quite some time yet, but he won't escape forever. It is my intention to keep this as canon as possible, though there are at least a few details that are off in later chapters (that I know of!) I am glad you think the characterizations are good, though - this was my first time writing Snape (and Malfoy), so I was very nervous about getting them right.

I enjoyed your story and look forward to the next chapters. Your caracters fit well with what we know of them from the books. You did a really good job of capturing the atmosphere of the stories

Author's Response: Thank you for the review, ambershadow! I think part of what is so fascinating about the books is the world she has created, so I am glad you think I have somehow captured that atmosphere. Hopefully the second chapter will be up some time next week, but it depends entirely upon how busy they are here at SH, so we'll see!

Hello Mith,
I like your back story, so far, on Severus very much. You have a smooth writing style and it is easy on the eyes and brain. I hope you will continue, I am interested. I like how you already have set up Severus in debt to Malfoy and I think you have done the character justice. I am not surprised really, but wanted to give you my support for what it is worth. Thanks and look forward to more.

Rwhen

Author's Response: Thanks, Rwhen! *blush* I will certainly continue; the second chapter is already in the Queue, and will be posted as soon as it is validated. You will see more of Malfoy there. It was challenging to try to make Snape think and act like a much younger man than we usually see him, so I am glad you think I did him justice so far. Your support is worth a lot, because what is the purpose of writing if there is no one to read?
