Oh if I could rate this higher than 10 I would! Wow what a Bloody brilliant opening chapter! You infused the right amount of bitter and brokenness. Severus has aged well and has obtained some quiet wisdom that you see hints of. I really like the way you portray Minierva as well...really good. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Author's Response: It goes up to eleven... hee hee hee

Glad you're enjoying it! I worked pretty hard on that initial dialog, it's nice to see it's working!

Ever since I read Professor McGonagall's comment to that Gryffindor hadn't won the Quidditch cup in however-many years it had been, "as Professor Snape so kindly reminded me." I knew they were good friends. I like stories in which we get to see them interact. This looks promising.

and is it Harry who is the Professor Potter who is head of Sytherin? how odd. I do look forward to more.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, I imagine she was pretty stunned when the Astronomy Tower bit went down. P.S. You'll find out about Potter in Ch. 2.

Nicely written, though I would think Severus would be somewhat more worn-out after fifty years in Azkaban, even if it is Dementor-less (I'm presuming it is in this fic). So I guess Minerva hadn't made up her mind to hire him, but when she realized the truth, that did it?

Author's Response: I think she's not sure what to believe, but being Minerva of Gryffindor, she naturally wants to think the best of him and give him a chance.

Nice piece of tightly written tension - I see that this is the first chapter. Good start! Interesting having all the restrictions on him - especially those that would protect him from student accusations.

Professor Potter, head of Slytherin, and Snape apparently didn't know it. *snerk*

Author's Response: I'd imagine the Azkaban newspapers are pretty content-free...

Reader's Response: I just realized today: We don't know WHO Professor Potter is! It's been fifty years since the end of the war: It could be THE Harry Potter, H.P. Jr., Mrs. Harry Potter, or some shirt-tail relative! Clever!
