It's good to see that the old manipulator is at least honest with himeslf about prefering James to Severus. He did hide that memory from himself. Perhaps he was afraid he would somehow lose or damage it if he took it out and remembered it too often, or perhaps he didn't think he deserved it. Either way, it's a terribly sad situation.
Author's Response: Poor Albus just does not find Severus very easy to like, while poor Severus just does not know how to make himself very likable.
*Either way, it's a terribly sad situation.*
True.

I can't believe I missed this chapter before! Severus allowed himself to be wooed by what the Tedious One judged to be the best means of drawing him in. What is striking is how he doesn't realize the TO did that with every person at the table. You show him being utterly convinced that everyone else is a waste of time, and then you show that the TO knows every person sitting at that table has the exact same thoughts. Well done.
Author's Response: Thanks for noticing that and writing about it. I was afraid I might not get that across properly.
*Tedious One, TO*
Ha, good one! Fits him perfectly. |

Pasi, let me start by saying I ADORE your story. I am shocked that it has not got more reviews. I'm always so excited when there is an update. The picture you paint of how and why Severus became a DE is haunting. Your descriptions (at St Mungos or of Eileen or Lucius for example) are compelling. Please keep writing. I'm always scared that if you don't get more reviews you might quit. You definitely should not. Cheers.
Author's Response: Oh, no! I may be slow at times due to RL, but I'm not quitting. Thank you very much for your encouragement. It is appreciated. |

This is exactly how I see the Marauders v. Snape. And you've made the whole Whomping Willow incident believable, because Snape is not stupid at all.
I also like the Light and Dark magic idea - it's a good explanation for Snape's Patronus and his entrance to the Death Eaters. It also makes Lord Voldemort's decision to make Snape his spy (at quite a young age really) really believable.
And the fact that the story is well-written with clearly defined characters (well, I there are inconsistencies with Lilly but that's fine with me for the time being!) a well-thought out plot, descriptive and evocative writing make it a pleasure to read. It's also a bonus that the spelling and grammar are excellent too.
Brilliant! Keep it up.
Author's Response: You've given a clear and concise review of a very long story. Thank you. |

You have portrayed young Snape excellently once more: his impatience, his conviction of being gad, as well as his desperation about not having any happy memories. Very well done. I am already looking forward to the day when your story is completed. I will stack up with tea and biscuits and read it all over again! /M
Author's Response: Thank you; glad you're enjoying.

Heh, so am I. It's fun to write, but I wish I had more time to work on it, so that I could update more often. Thanks for your patience. |

Heartbreaking. Dumbledore has actually extended as far as he pretty much can. Severus has to make the choice, knowing that nothing may really change and accepting that doing what's right will have to be sufficient reward.
Author's Response: It always was sad in canon, how those two came close but never quite understood each other.
Thanks for reviewing. |

Another player in the struggle for Severus's soul...Eileen's on the right track, but she's missing the chance to provide a little guidance.
Author's Response: Eileen has her own difficulties, poor thing.

I hope there is no trouble ahead for Eileen.
Author's Response: So do I! I still wonder whatever happened to her in canon.
