A perfect last chapter for this capturing story. I am looking forward to re-reading it over the summer.
Author's Response: Thanks! I hope it will come across as a coherent whole when you re-read. |

You painted a very powerful picture in this last scene, depicting Severus' pain in a way JKR never managed to. Thank you.
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed my rendering of Severus's POV in this scene. |

Wow, you really nailed this chapter! Severus' reactions to seeing Harry for the first time are *perfect.* Poor guy--it's going to be a long seven years, and he doesn't even suspect what all is going to happen.
That said, I'm clutching at the chair arms here. Is the story really finished? You're not continuing it? More, please! Are you starting another one? "fingers crossed"
Author's Response: Thank you! The ending is sad in a way, isn't it? I don't have any more long stories planned for the near future, but I haven't closed off the idea of one-shots. I still like Snape. |

One little nit to pick: No one would have said, "Shut it down" back in the '70s. That jarred me out of the narrative, albeit only briefly because you're such a darned good writer. Really like the characterization of Black catching his wand in his pocket--right on, man. "wink" That's just what an arrogant guy like him would do as a passive challenge to someone he really wants to tick off. (And he's so good at ticking off Severus.)
Still one of my favorite stories!
Author's Response: Ah, glad the phrase didn't do too much damage, at least! Thank you. |

This is a fantastic story, full of complex characters and a believable plot. If you were over on Ashwinder, you would easily have ten times the readership for this great fic! It would be nice if there could be cross-archive recommendations.
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, even without Hermione. |

That was a good way to sum things up and look toward what comes next. It was also a very delicate and gentle way to transition us into the proper canon from your story. Well done!
Author's Response: Thanks very much, especially for your regular reviewing throughout. |

I am sorry that this story is finished...and delighted at the same time. You have done a really excellent job of filling in the gaps around Severus Snape. How he came to be spying for both his masters and how he dame to be protecting a child he loathed. Outstanding!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. |

The sadness here is crushing. I would feel worse if he had not created the world he now must live in... or maybe it's worse because he did create that world. It's hard to decide.
Author's Response: I feel exactly the same way. Thank you. |

You have him discover it from the newspaper, a very interesting way to do it. It's heartbreaking to watch him discover what happened, realize his part in it, and then sell the rest of his soul to the Great Manipulator.
Author's Response: Thanks! It was a challenging and rather sad chapter to write. |

I like the way V doesn't permit Snape to cast the Unforgiveables initially, it certainly leaves a chance for Snape to maintain some of his soul in tact. I realise most of D's part was direct from canon, but it was good to read a plumped out version of "that" night.
Author's Response: Thanks! The chapter was sort of a way of explaining that night to myself. |
