Or rather, she could imagine Mr Prince on a lead Why Petunia! You saucy tart! And what is going on in that stone basin? And why is Snape struggling to suppress all his childhood memories that keep inching to the surface? I'm quite curious! Well done, Grainne! I must catch that next chapter soon!

What a wonderful fic! I feel lucky that I found it when I did because I got to read six chapters in one go. You are incredably talented. Characters, descriptions, dialogue, it's all great. I love this line in particular: "soon Snape was chanting, “Tea and a bath and the house to myself,” under his breath as he strode along." Can't wait for more!

I'm so glad I finally had a chance to get back over here to find your update! I really like seeing Snape interacting with adults away from all the students. He's very much like I imagined he'd be, but you write him so much better than I ever could have. You also do such a great job alluding to different canonical moments--e.g. poor little Dudders and his new phobia. And I love all the moments of humor and irony you give us; your authorial voice is really engaging because it is both intelligent and wonderfully witty.

Oh, what a night! Poor thing...having to deal with Dursleys, the Dark Lord, Wormtail, and Narcissa, all in one night?! Methinks you like to torture the poor boy. So Petunia is having these flashbacks too? Hmmm, very interesting...

Tough day! You've integrated PyschoBella very nicely -- will she pop up again?

Poor Snape! No bath after all.

I like the way you conceive of his dealings with Voldemort. He doesn't seem particularly afraid -- which makes some sense, because he's so very clever and he knows it. The way he spins the lie about his visit to Surrey seems effortless and really shows the way his mind works.

Have you noticed that Ralph Fiennes' Boldy makeup resembles Michael Jackson after all the plastic surgery on his nose made it practically nonexisitent? 'He Who I Find Most Tiresome' is equal to Gilderoy Lockhart in the vanity stakes. That's something Severus and the rest should take advantage of for their own benefit. When it gets to the paragraph with all the 'what if I told you's' Snape sound like a TV pitchman from the days before infomercials. Petunia's little fantasies are just what I'd expect of her. I'm sure nobody would ever mistake her for Charlie Dimmock even if she wore one of Charlie's T-shirts, after all, I doubt if Petunia even has nipples to show in a T-shirt. One thing I'm sure of, she wouldn't like me at all, my family name was Lilly. Poor Severus, that was a beastly day, first he must have woken up to Pettigrew in his house, then he had to deal with the Dursleys, then he was summoned by 'HWIFMT', and after all that he comes home to find a weepy Narcissa wanting to bitch about Bellatrix and how Draco is behaving. It's enough to make a wizard want to disappear into the Muggle world.

I have never loved Petunia or Vernon more than in the past 15 minutes! I can imagine the expression on Snape's face if he had found her "draped upon the sofa"! Her posturing to impress Snape since he caught her at the Tesco is magnificent. Oh and btw. I had to look up Tesco on the web and really got a giggle at the thought of him in a grocery store. The bowler aht just cracks me up. This line "the only use she has for plants is for her dogs to piss on," is so Marge it's downright scary. And once again you had me laughing out loud at Snape's woolgathering. You've just done a stellar job at all these little "muggle" reminders from his childhood. Another gem line was "He gave the proud parents his most beatific smile, which was horrible indeed." Yellow, uneven teeth and all? Huh!!! One he feels the burn of the mark, I love the way you rush -not only his dialogue- but the description as well in one glorious, seeminly run-on sentence. It puts the reader on edge and has you practically panting by the time he gets out the door.

I feel like an ass. When I first read this line: "He reached up with both hands, carefully pulled his hair away from his face, and tucked it behind his ears." it startled me because I couldn't figure out why he was doing this. I knew it had to do with Legilimency but it really was a disturbing line. I reread it a couple of times and it was so visual it stuck with me. I associated it with Jason Schwartzman from I Heart Huckabees for some reason and I got fixated on Snape's ears and the line continued to haunt me all day at work. (Yes it was slow today as tomorrow is a holiday in US so I was reading fiction on the sly) Anyway, a couple of hours later it hit me that you were preparing for Legilimency by *removing* the curtains of greasy hair. And then I got to thinking maybe that's why he HAS those curtains of hair and you thoroughly BLEW my mind! It seems so elementary now but prior to today I just never thought about his hair as a buffer that way. I love it when someone comes up with an idea like that! Okay. So anyway aside from that silliness, this chapter was really interesting. The interactions between all characters was fantastic and IC. Your Dursley dialogue is SO believable! I'm pretty sure I know what your doing with these spells and I hope I'm right b/c this could be very interesting (Of course with that last ourburst about the hair I'm sure you wondering how I can follow the spells right?) I find it disturbing that any woman would have a "favorite" pair of rubber gloves.
