Reviews for The Tortured Soul

This is coming along nicely - I'm looking forward to watching Harry try to weasel the info out of Lupin - who will no doubt be shocked that Harry knows anything...but probably won't say much anyway.

Author's Response: Thanks. You're half right. Hee. :)

Ooooh! Featured story. Congrats! This story is definitely deserving. It's such a wonderfully unique look at Snape and what might have been. I'd say more, but it would spoil the surprise for those that have not read it before. :) It's been a real pleasure to beta this one.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm very lucky in that I have a great beta to keep me going. ;) Do get well soon!

This is such an interesting story! I have to admit, the thought of James' soul inside of Severus is a bit hard to grasp (were it me, I think my sanity would be slipping). I can't imagine how you would feel - not really yourself! Now that there is that possibility of the whole story being a fake, well that really sets things up for a hard fall for (for more than one person it would seem). This will be such an intersting one to follow. Thank you for an adventure in thought! Keep it coming.

Author's Response: Thanks! Snape's trying his best to hold it together - partly by denial, partly by his rampant hate for James, and partly by just blocking out his feelings about it (which, as an Occlumens, he seems pretty good at). I hope it's not too confusing. Let it not be said I don't like a good challenge. LOL

It's an intriguing idea, and it doesn't necessarily mean your story is AU. All the canon facts could be the same, you just filled in some blanks. And it's the most original explanation for Severus' change of heart that I've read; certainly a lot more interesting than another "he loved Lily" story. Severus and DD are both nicely I/C.

Author's Response: I didn't really intend it to be seen as a theory, it just seems to fit it in really well with the 'blanks', as you say. But really, please don't take it as a theory of mine! It's too crazy for JKR to introduce in Book 7! :) I'm really glad you think the characters are accurately portrayed. Thanks for reviewing.

What a unique premise! Here's the question, though - James' soul made such a fundamental change in Snape as to shake his belief system to its core. Wouldn't it also have caused him to be a little nicer to Harry?

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing, Daintress. I think that's asking a little too much of Snape! :)

Well this sure is different. That would mean that Severus is not really Severus but actually Potter with Severus's memories? That is a real turn of events. It's a bit unsetteling to say the least. It will be very interesting to see how all of this ends up playing out! Nice twist, uncomfortable, but nice.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! The basic fact in this story is that Snape has James Potter's soul instead of his own. How you interpret it (and how the various characters interpret it) beyond that ... And what the consequences are will unravel slowly too.
