Reviews for The Kiss

duj 2013.04.03 - 11:52PM 1: One-shot Signed
Very cute story, but it doesn't work with canon. If Mudblood was a private joke for them, why did it end their friendship when he said it publicly.

Author's Response: This was written well before we knew that they were childhood friends. It's my own backstory and in this universe, their friendship doesn't end yet with the Mudblood incident. The sequence would be The Train, The Kiss, Decisions, Why Dumbledore trusted Snape and A Different Perspective. All of these lead to the SSHG story A Most Imporant Element In Water, which was indeed canon shafted. Alas, I prefer my backstory to canon.

Cute. Snape really must have had another side.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing, Dani DM! :-) He must have been a bit less snarky as a kid, no one can be born like that (I hope...).

Liked it. I love the 'Cheerio, Mudblood.'/'Pip pip, Snivellus'. Very nice idea that they were secretly very close friends.

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words, Kayryn.

"Before you know it, everybody and their dog will be floating upside down." Great line!

Author's Response: Thank you! :-)

Wow..that was sweet. A realistic potrayal of their friendship, more or less the type they had, well done. Actually, my mind did go a bit on the imaginative side and somehow thought that Lily used polyjuice and such to disguise herself as "Florence" to find out how Severus truly felt about her. But then I thought back to the kissing my arm quote and the whole piece in general and concluded that nope, it isn't going to happen in this fic. too bad, haha. I'm a real sucker for SS/Hr fics followed next by SS/Le. I enjoyed it thoroughly nonetheless, especially with his vivid description of the kiss, I expected as much since it IS Severus we're talking about and he never lacks detail. Are you planning to continue this or is it done and are you now working on something else? Would be delighted to read more of your work.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! :-) In my fanfic universe, Snape and Lily are friends, not lovers. This particular story is finished, however, I have another one here on Occlumency called 'A Different Perspective' about the events in HBP. I have a few more short stories planned, mostly about Snape's history with the Marauders -- and Lily. And I have a long story in-writing which will go to Ashwinder if it is accepted. I'm only in the initial stages with that one, though, and it will be a while untile I post.

This is actually the type of relationship I think Snape and Lily had :) well done!

Author's Response: Thank you, Ally! :-)

Adorable! And very original! Well done! Just one thing... Severus' detailed description was beautiful, but a tad too romantic sometimes... and it just did not feel right coming from the mouth of a teenager his age.

Author's Response: Thank you! It is good to get feedback on what doesn't work right, too. I don't have much contact with teens and can only draw from my own memories. I've always been overanalyzing. But I agree, talking that way may not be typical for a 15-year-old. If I write kid-or teen-related dialogue again, I'll ask someone with more teen-experience to look over it before I post.

:) :) :) Very cute! New spin kills an old assumption! Thanks.

Author's Response: Thank you! That's my motivation for fanfic: explore different ideas. :-)

That was absolutely precious! Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling all the way down to my toes. :)

Author's Response: Thank you! It's great when the story can get that feeling across.
