Reviews for Beholden To No Man

greenwood 2006.07.17 - 03:45PM 14: Chapter 14 Signed
Great chapter. For a minute there I thought that something was going to happen to Lupin and she would loose the baby. I am so glad that didn't happen. It would have been so hard on everyone. Lucius got off...humm that isn't a good sign. I bet we have not seen the last of him. I look forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks. I've decided that there has been enough heartache and trauma for now...And yeah, Lucius is still lurking out there, much to everyone's dismay. I have the final bits outlined, we'll see if it's all one chapter or not. :)

Lovely chapter! The issue between Julia and her mother is very natural but hope sincerely it won't last too much. Is Hagrid still alive? It would be so nice to have him come back! Have to check your 'Wounded' story once again, I've forgotten who survived the last battle and who did not. Thanks for the update, can hardly wait for the next one!

Author's Response: Thanks, Alexis. Hagrid is out there with Grawp, so I'll answer that question for you. :) He just couldn't face Hogwarts after everything else.... I'm glad you found Julia and Aurelia's tension believable. Everything can't be happy all the time. Though, hopefully Julia will come around. :)

Still no mention of the future baby: girl or boy? Haven't they got proper examinations these damned wizards? This uncertainty is killing me! ... Seriously, the story is always highly enjoyable and I'm sorry that the end is approaching. I'm also glad anyway that you didn't make all "roses and flowers", as we say in Italy: it means that not everything is going as happily as desired. Julia hating her mother and step-father is very believable, while Severus and Aurelia are definitely cute. Just a note from the mother I am: I would try to stay nearer to my daughters in a moment like this. They could feel excluded, as if they were part of a past that is no more existing (their father will never come back and will soon be substituted by another man) meanwhile a totally new future is going to be born (a new family with a new baby). Waiting anxiously for more...

Author's Response: Thanks for the great review. As for the baby, we'll she's only been pregnant a little over a month at this point. *wink* And not everyone wants to know ahead of time....Julia gave me a great opportunity for teenage agnst. I can really see her having that reaction as someone who was close to her father. Not to mention with someone who wouldn't come up on Britain's most eligible wizard list. LOL This is one secret that Julia would probably like never got out. There's always such a fine line between being there and smothering. Julia's going to need some space for a while, but hopefully she will realize how hard-headed she's being. Either that or someone will have to smack her around. LOL I need to formalize my plans for the last chapter and then we'll see if it really is the last one. Sometimes I have too much ground to cover. :)

ACK! Well, I didn't see that one coming. Ever. I read Wounded today (yes, all today, it's not like I have a life or anything:) and I didn't review. I know, I'm terrible. But my goodness..... I did NOT see that one coming. EEK!

Author's Response: No worries, on the not reviewing the others one. :) I know how caught up you can get and how you can get in a hurry to move on. This story has been a lot of fun for me to write and I have even surprised myself from time to time. LOL

Another wonderful and emotional chapter. I really liked the banter after Severus found out he was to be a father - very well done. I am also relieved at the outcome and not left with a bloody cliff hanger to wait on (*snark*). I look forward to the next chapter of this amazing story.

Author's Response: Thanks. I had tons of fun with Severus's reaction. He's not the type that likes surprises and this was about the biggest one you coudl have. LOL I know, I failed in my cliffhanger duties. LOL The next one is in the queue.

Great story! I keep being too involved in it. Luckily, all is well that ends well... You know how afraid I was of this chapter! I'm glad that he is beginning to accept his paternity, even if I think it's a long way to go for a man of his kind and his experiences. Now, will the baby be another girl or a boy? (a girl, a girl, easier for him to love... sorry, always too involved... but I'm married with a man that is very similar to Severus in his reactions, that's probably why I'm partecipating so much). Waiting for the new chapters!!! mep

Author's Response: I'm so glad to see that you are so engrossed in the story. :)... I'm glad you liked this chapter despite your trepidation going into it. LOL Poor Severus will be forced to grow up and mature now that he has this huge responsibility looming before him. As for the sex of the child, I know the answer to that question, but I won't reveal it too soon. I'm working on the next chapter and the story is winding down. I only have a few more loose ends to tie up. :D

Wonderfully written as always. :)

Author's Response: Thank you very much. :D This was my favorite chapter to write so far.

Nothing like making up.

Author's Response: There sure isn't, is there? Thanks for reviewing. :D

You were right. ;-) I loved this chapter!

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Now I just need to finish up that scene that's giving me fits in the next chapter. LOL

I liked the fact that Snape was surly and uncommunicative, since that's so in character. I do feel he would not believe that he would have anything to offer a child, and would be reluctant to raise one. I loved the comment about children only being interesting when they were school age. I hope that everything works out with the wedding, and look forward to how this story continues.

Author's Response: Thanks, Amanda. He really did just pull himself right back into his shell, didn't he? That news was a quite a setback for him. He was so much fun to work with in this chapter. LOL I was especially fond of his 'proposal'. ROTFL That's got to be one of my favorite lines I've ever given him.
