You know, I don't understand why people seem to be so sure of the fact that Snape's father was abusive. As if a witch would ever stand for an abusive husband. She would've hexed him into the wall, I think. Yes, there was that small vision of a man with a big nose yelling at a woman with a little boy in the corner, weeping, but who says that was Snape's father? Apparantly, Snape takes after his mother in his appearance. What if that yelling man was his uncle? Or grandfather? One thing that annoyed me most in the latest nove was the Trio's assumption that Snape called himself the Half Blood Prince because he was ashamed of his muggle blood and proud to be a Prince, if only a halfblooded one. That sounds ridiculous to me. What if Snape's father died when the boy was very young? What if he grew up under the sneering thumb of his Prince family? What if those familymembers called him 'Halfblood Prince' and Snape took that insult and wore it like a badge of honour, however secretly? No wonder that Dumbledore trusted him then. He would never, ever be a part of a movement that sneered at him for being of mixed blood. Sounds far more plausible to me... So, it's a nice story you wrote, but I'm getting rather fed up with all the 'Snape was abused by his father' stories. Sorry. Author's Response: Hi Marion, thanks for reviewing, and I am glad you like the story even if you don't agree with it. I am in the process of writing a fic for Ashwinder, and as a result, have done much research to develop my characters. This story is my theory on why Severus is the way he is, based upon what I have read. You are, of course, welcome to your own opinions, and I thank you for sharing them!
