| I nearly forgot to mention the most important thing you got right. Yeah: we come to these websites because we'd all love to be ravished by Severus Snape himself. Yes, of course, we all find Alan Rickman pretty irresistable--and it's his eyes, profile, cheekbones, mouth and voice which have given flesh to our ideas of how Snape should be. But Rickman's only figuratively magical. Severus Snape is a wizard. There's a lot more fantasies being generated about Snape than Rickman, would be my guess. Rickman is a real person, in a real relationship. We don't know him, really. BUT. We ALL can have a relationship with Snape! And this story fed on that. For that, I thank you (...and give you another "10")! |

| I enjoyed this story, but my criticisms are basically the same as Charlie_of_Slytherin before me, three years ago (last previous review here). To my mind, the appeal of Severus Snape lies not in his being mean for mean's sake. It's the inherent inner conflict he holds between his desires to be mean and his need to do the right thing nonetheless. Still, an entertaining story! (Oh, and by the way, John deLancie played Q with as fine a sense of arrogance and hauteur as ever Rickman played Snape. So don't assume everyone would be disappointed it was "only" he who showed up at a StarTrek convention. Armin Shimerman as a Ferengi--now THAT would be disappointment with no "better" StarTrek actors there!) I'm giving you a "10" for wish fulfillment, though! |

| That was really different from what is normally written in the fandom, and the two "heroines" are certainly not two annoyingly perfect "Mary Sues". I like the general idea, the description of the convention, and the wonderfully self-ironic depiction of the two girls who so desperately want to be Slytherins and display typical Slytherin vanity and greed. That's brilliant. I also liked their first reaction when their wish comes true, that fantasy turned fact can be fairly intimidating.
What I didn't like was that Snape put the girls under an Imperius curse --- I think it's beneath him, and it's not like he'd have to force or command those two to anything. There's not much conversation going on as to how Snape was summoned there (did they tear him right out of a Potions class?), or who the girls are, he seems not only perfectly aware of what happened, but also resolved about what is going to happen. Once Snape appears, you're rushing things (of course I cannot blame you, LOL). I would have preferred you to slow down the pace of your story a bit at that point. You could have given Snape a chance to show his sarcasm and subtlety instead of being just mean, because, for me, that's part of his appeal and charisma. At very few points of the story, we get a glimpse of the complexity of his character (for example, when he whispers in Miranda's ear, that one sentence says a lot about how he feels about the situation, his lust for power that drew him to Voldemort in the first place, and his bad luck with Lily. But it's only a glimpse of what he's hiding underneath his behavior). Also, for me personally, his comment about Harry is out of character. He loathes Harry because of what he represents, "his" woman choosing another man. So why should he want to have sex with Harry?
Anyway, I enjoyed reading your story, it was funny and a welcome change in the long list of Mary Sues. |

| oh my god...tat was cool. I wish him to be real too. i can identify well wit the characters of melissa and Manny. I think snape was totally in character especially him ordering them to take off their muggle clothes. but the story makes me sad a bit to imagine two friends sharing this and snape not caring for them...then again they don't seem to be able to see past snape being anymore than a stern, sex god. I think you could take the story further by drawing the characters closer apart. |
