| Very poignant, and I quite agree. The only thing that I noticed is the line "My master is calling..." After reading this, I wouldn't expect him to use those words for Voldemort in his own head. It's clear that Dumbledore (dead), not Voldemort, is Snape's "master". | |||

Perfect. Author's Response: Thanks, Belle. This was a particularly hard one to write, but felt I really needed to after the end of HBP. I figure at this point he has to have a pretty fatalistic view on life, knowing that everyone will think he's a DE. | |||

| Beautifully written. I wish I had read this directly after HBP. All together now; I Do believe in Severus, I Do! I Do! ; ) Author's Response: Thanks, Teacherspet. I love the Peter Pan quality of your last sentence. :D This was my immediate response to HBP. I think I had the first draft done within a day of finishing the book. | I'm so glad when I see authors hanging onto good!Snape. This story encapsulates what I believe really happened. I just hope that book 7 will prove Snape's faithful fans right. Snape has been as much "a gift of a character" to readers as he is to Rowling. It will be a shame if we love turn out to love him more than she did in the end. Author's Response: Thanks, Verity. I have to have faith in Snape and really, really, really hope that JKR doesn't let us down. I would be so disappointed if he turned out to be evil. Plus it would mean that Harry was right and a part of me wants to see Harry eat crow on this one. I'm hoping her Dumbledore comment about his mistakes being monumental was not referring to this, but to Tom among other things. | |||

| I was beginning to think that I was the only one who thought that he might have been following Dumbledore's orders. I was beginning to think I was the only one who remembered what HAgrid said about the argument. Good characterization. Sounds like Severus to me. Let's hope you're right. | short and sweet .exactly what i also believe . those of us that love severus need authors ltke you to keep us sane after the disturbing events of HBP. your story is rational and well thought out . thank you so much. | Very believable and well-written - and a good thought that Harry still has that book. Minor Britpick - to a Briton of Snape's generation (which is also mine) "smart" means "well-dressed." Use of "smart" to mean "clever" is an Americanism unless you are very young, Snape would hope that Harry would be clever or wise or sensible enough to use the book, not smart enough. I changed it to intelligent, it sounded more Snape than clever and I can't see him using wise to describe Harry. ;-) | |||

| Very well done. I like the way you blended all the pro-Snape theories out there. It would be nice if some of these proved true in book 7 (but that would mean that JKR would have to finally have an adult be helpful and prove that adults can be right about things....that may be a stretch for her since she has a nasty way of putting almost all adults (even Lupin because he can be dangerous can't he!) in the catagory of untrustworthy, not too bright, evil, or very falable!....ha ha! Gads, even his parents were falable - they trusted wormtail afterall!) Author's Response: Thanks, greenwood. You know, up until you mentioned the thing with adults, I hadn't realized it. That's kind of scary now that I think about it. Though, in defense of the adults, Harry does like to hold back information, too. I actually like that all her characters have fatal flaws and have to pay for their mistakes. | |||
