Reviews for The Day Emmeline Vance Died

Hey! Thanks for the great story (yes, the name is a strange coincidence)! I cannot believe that I happened upon this fic with two of my favourite characters as lovers! Severus' role in this was so noble, and I loved his reaction to the baby. Thanks for the great read. Peace! Love, me.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Emmeline! I am so happy you enjoyed it! And I'm so glad I could put your two favorite characters together!

This was phenomenal, although I must say, I'm disappointed that it's only a one shot. I can't wait to read more from you. Great job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, JennSmith! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! *cough* I do have some other stories here, on Lumos and Ashwinder. Isn't that shameless pimping? :-)

Great story! I really enjoyed it. A plausible explanation. I too like Severus Snape too much to be JKR@

Author's Response: Thank you, Bracken! I think there's more to that sentence in Spinners End then we've been told, so my mind started spinning.

Brilliant! You really caught the plot bunny in a most unexpected story! This was really using all the wonderful hints in the cannon to your advantage and making a believable story from it. I am so glad to see this beginning to happen. There is a lot of great plot bunnies just waiting to snared so I hope some of the other brilliant writers can catch them too! Bravo! I hope you catch another soon!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, greenwood! I felt that we had quite a bit to work with in just a few sentences and whether or not she planned it, JK Rowling has given us just enough ambiguity to really work with. I've got lots of plot bunnies (they breed freely), but I need to wrangle a couple of WiPs before I try anything long. I'm going to have fun with an ambiguous Snape. :-) thanks!

A what an excellent little bunny it turned out to be! I know I've already told you this, but I really do enjoy the way you wrote Snape is this -- ambiguous to the last.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, looneyluna! I think we could have a lot of fun with ambiguous!Snape. Is he Dark, is he Light? Well, I know I'm going to have fun with it!

Wow that is so unexpected, yet fits in canon. Great idea, give your bunny a carrot.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, droxy! The bunny is now sipping on some carrot wine and he also thanks you!

COOOL! This is a great idea. I wouldn't have thought to connect these two things. You've done the characters well. I especially liked the slow warming up to the pregnancy; it seemed so Severus. I think this bit of talk is rather un-severusish, though: ""Emmeline," he whispered, "no matter what happens, you have made me happy. That you and my son will go on is the only thing that gives me strength." I just can't see that coming from Snape's mouth. But otherwise, thanks!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Candygirl! I think Snape thinks he's going to die for most of HBP or do the unthinkable and kill Dumbledore. So, in some ways, I see this as his goodbye to her, because either way he's going to lose her and his son in the future either by his death or by killing Dumbledore. And also, I think a lot of people get very emotional after the birth of their first child. So I'm sorry you feel that was OOC and perhaps I should develop that better. I'm toying with a retelling from Snape's POV and perhaps I could expand on it better there.

Now I always thought that Emmaline Vance was beyond childbearing age, but, hey, I can be wrong. Nevertheless this is a really sweet piece that gives a little bit more of Snape's dark and shady existence. Excellent.

Author's Response: Thank you, haraheart! Emmeline is described as a "stately looking" witch in OotP, but she's not mentioned as being an original member of the Order from the 1970s, so I chose to interpret her age is being a trifle younger than Snape -- maybe a decade. I'm so happy you enjoyed this!

OMG - Lisa, what are you douíng to me! I actually had to stop reading at the divider and paced through the room, muttering to myself. It took some time before I could bring myself to read further. I was so relieved when I realised where you were leading us. Brilliant job.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, apisa_b! I am so happy you enjoyed this, because I really want to work with a more ambiguous Snape in the future. And we were given so much to work with!
