What a wonderful introspection. You do an excellent job describing the guilt that Snape must feel after realizing he did nothing to stop the madness and raised and entire generation of those who would fight for the Dark side. I like how you end it with him finally realzing he doesn't hate Harry and that there is something worth living for. Wonderfully moving piece of ficiton.
Author's Response: Thank you very much :) I wrote this after seeing a wonderful fanart that actually gave me the idea -- it has Severus holding the bleeding, limp form of a blond boy, and next to them lie two Death Eaters masks. The text reads "And who will cry for my doomed children..." Having seen it, I needed to verbalise what I thought was happening there. |

Never before has a one chapter story evoked such emotions from me. I seldom cry, but this one did me in. Very well done.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it, and of course I feel honoured that my writing has such an effect. |

Tremendous writing. What awesome images you've described - Severus kneeling in a field of corpses, holding a Slytherin student he killed, and then Ron carrying the body of the one who tried to kill him. You've brilliantly conveyed the grief and sorrow of the aftermath of war - all those lives ended prematurely. There is also hope for Severus, in that he is now free to tell future Slytherins they have choices to make, and more alternatives than these children did. Thanks for having Ron and Harry be mature enough to be concerned for him.
Author's Response: Thanks for the long review. I'm glad you liked it - and I'm particularly happy that someone commented on Ron! He's my favourite character in this story. I don't think that after a war/battle like this, Harry and Ron could show an immature attitude toward him, they have to grow up at some point. |

This is so moving, and so well crafted. Somehow, that little touch of hope made everything so much more powerful. I have to go find a box of tissues now.
Author's Response: Thank you. I could not let the story end completely without hope. |

A sad but beautiful piece. I was truly touched by the emotion in this story. I applaud you for capturing the loss of innocence in a war they had no chance of truly understanding.
Author's Response: Thanks for your review, I'm glad you liked it. The sad thing is that they never were allowed to be innocent. |

What a powerful, moving little glimpse into the aftermath. I love how you have shown that so many of those children really never had any choice or any say as to the direction their lives would take. As the previous reviewer said, you captured Snape's voice beautifully. Very, very well done, had me in tears at the end.
Author's Response: Thank you very much :) There are so many stories out there in which they are only portrayed as one-dimensional antagonists, so I thought I'd try something else. |

Wow. That was increadible, so poignant. So ... just wow.You capture Snape's voice, his thought process so well. He would feel sorrow for the parties on both sides, particularly the students in his House. Very well done!
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing. I feel honoured that you think I managed to convey Snape's thoughts to the reader - I find it rather hard to write him. |
