Reviews for Highly Improbable

I have to thank you for your interesting and (sometimes) unusual choices of musical numbers. I'm familiar with most of the ones so far, but I had to go to YouTube to hear The New Leviathan Oriental Fox Trot Orchestra play their rendition of “Since Rebecca Came Back from Mecca”. I enjoy Klezmer music, so was delighted to find something I hadn't heard before. Good chapter!

Author's Response: Yes, I like to think Clancy inherited her quirky taste in music from her Aunt Hilly. (But actually, I collect old sheet music and "Since Rebecca Came Back from Mecca" is one of the jewels in my collection.)

What a wonderful chapter, I was so sure he had made a stew out of Panpine, thanks goodness he didn't. At last the kilt...hmm....... there is nothing else to add :)

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. Some reviewers would have preferred for Panpipe to be in the stew! :-)

Wonderful! I'm looking forward to the rest.

Author's Response: Thank you, Vanityfair! I was just about to submit the next chapter when this review notice came in. :-)

I had been meaning to read this story for ages and have been doing so avidly over the past week! Have finally finished all the chapters and am now eagerly awaiting the next one. I love the humour, particularly the pineapple references and Snape in a kilt! Can't wait to see where this is going.

Author's Response: Thank you, Araminta! I don't remember receiving notice of this review, otherwise I would have reponded sooner. :-)

I must say, I am highly disappointed. I wanted Snape to off the smelly obnoxious beast. But the chapter was good as usual.

Author's Response: I'm afraid El Panpipe's big mouth may cause him trouble down the line. But if there's a chance for Snape to be redeemed, perhaps there is a chance for a Jarvey as well. :-)

Stewed Panpipe! I loved that scene! Clancy really got a hold on Snape. I think they are lovely together - and I doubt Snape would want it any other way...

Author's Response: Thanks, Sniv! :-)

Another totally fulfilling chapter. You seem to have tipped a few sacred cows yourself. :-) Have you ever wondered what chicken really tastes like? For Snape is running out of trousers again. He does seem to lose them whenever he is around Clancy and some, he does not get back. :-) Great job!
~Lisa

Author's Response: Thanks, Lisa. You've taught me the fun of cow-tipping. Heaven help me when I post at Ashwinder. :-)

What a great chapter. There are so many great lines. You highlighted most of them in your A/N. I love how he did the ring trick, but removed it before she became too suspicious. The way the whole accepting of the proposal was so in character. I can see him going on about the ring rather than the proposal, especially since he's not sentimental. Oh, the part where she thinks that he killed Panpipe, brilliantly written. :D

Author's Response: Sentimentality and canon Snape don't mix too well, do they? Snape is the type of guy who will only do something if he sees an advantage in it for himself. He didn't want to give her the ring until she told him she didn't want it. Then it became a challenge to him and he wouldn't rest until he made her wear it, by resorting to any means. Thanks for reviewing, phoenix!

And what makes you think that I am NOT a madwoman, hmm? *arches wild eyebrow* There is nothing to be forgiven. I laughed like mad at that. I enjoyed the verbal "painting" of Sigune's fantastic drawing and the little trail of potential double-meanings that leads Clancy to believe the worst about Snape and the stew. I get the sense that this is the "calm" before the storm, and I like the fact that you do not portray it as an absolute idyll. You show the real differences between the pair--in terms of interests, temperament, knowledge, etc.--along with the tartan fantasy & wedding ring bits. I am now worried for Clancy...but it doesn't stop me from cackling at the mental image of that carpet ride back to Hogwarts, or at her feeling all broody thinking of the Jarvey's fuzzy belly!

Author's Response: I think Clancy might tolerate the Jarvey better than most. As a Muggle, a talking animal must be quite a thrill for her. And, having grown accustomed to Snape's behavior over the last two years, El Panpipe's little digs probably don't disturb her much at all. Thanks for reviewing, Mad!Grainne! :-)

if I messed up my hair and stuck out my front teeth like a good British beaver, I could do a mean impersonation of what’s-her-name. I'm still laughing! Ah, as always, you're clever and creative! I really liked how this vacation turned out for them. Despite the jarvey, "charmed" ring, the transfigured kilt, and all of the other "highly improbable" aspects, the feel of the vacation was very realistic (the quarrels, the make-up sex, the fact that he wants to stay inside and she wants to go explore ... that's the stuff of vacations, muggle and magical!). Also, I continue to love Clancy and that fine line she walks ... she never lets Snape get away with his immature behavior, but she also tries to tone down El Panpipe's insults ... she seems to be able to differentiate between Snape's emotional wounds and his ability to wound others. Maybe Clancy should go into psychology? ;-D So glad to see the update! All the best, Sophie

Author's Response: Thanks, Sophie! Be careful what you say to me by private e-mail. My impish side might incorporate it into the story. :-)
