Good chapter. Please keep writing, I really like this story. I haven't given up on Snape being one of the good guys.
Author's Response: I haven't given up either. I'm working on my festival entry though, so there will be a bit of a delay. |

OK, so here's the thing: Rowan's mother is probably in her...mid-to-late 30's? She's basically Snape's age. We've seen so few canon females his own age, it will be interesting to see how you have them interact. You say she's practical? So is he... in his own way. Let's see some of that famous Snape cunning! By the way, if there is a "certain cachet" to suit the sound of one's departure to the mood, would one apparate with a merry cackle on Halloween?
Author's Response: I had a plot bunny for a romance between Snape and a student's mother, but that's for another story. Maybe I'll write it one of these days, but it will be much harder post HBP!

"Herman Boyle had just learned a new trip jinx from another third year and wanted to practice -- and if he managed to send some girl arse over heels and got to see up her skirt, so much the better." Congratulations on capturing the mentality of a 13 year-old boy. May Snape hex him into next year! Since he deals with the Dark Lord, meeting his future mother-in-law should be easy. Right?
Author's Response: I remember being 13. Yuck - I wouldn't do it again fo anything! |

Very nice addition. the tension level is really being upped now. Poor Rowan, just when she thought it couldn't get any worse. I love the idea of Severus being able to Apparate silently. In fact, I just wrote a future chapter of a fic where he does just that and it's seen as equally odd. Great minds must think alike...I can't wait to see how Rowan's mother reacts to Snape, Rowan had a great point. :)
Author's Response: The chapter with Rowan's mom has been scaring me for months - I feel like I'm on the carpet explaining to her! Now I'm trying to get my festival entry finished so it will be a little while longer. |

I read this probably as soon as it was posted on FFN around 3 AM or so yesterday morning, but I waited to post my review here. I think it's the best chapter in the story so far and the best written. It seems Snape doesn't keep as close tabs on his Slythrins as he thinks. That kid should have been caught by Snape and expelled for inflicting harm on others, but he wasn't and it really furthered the plot along that he wasn't. The kid put Snape in as much danger as Rowan and her mother.Voldie now believes that Snape was 'pushed' by Dumledore into doing 'the honorable thing', his cover wasn't blown. I loved the way he offered to off his mother-in-law as a wedding present to Snape. Will her mother be receptive to Snape rescuing her and taking her to Hogwarts? And what about when she finds out about the engagment and the details that led to it? You've stirred up a hornet's nest in this chapter and left us hanging. Don't take so long to update the next chapter, I'm anxious to know what happens next.
Author's Response: Sorry, the next chapter is stalled behind my festival entry. Them's the breaks. It will come though, never fear! |

"Isn't there someone less ... alarming ... to send?" I must admit that I can just imagine Rowan's mom freaking out when this somewhat scary-looking guy appears in her house in the middle of the night! :~)
I am SO glad to see this chapter finally up. I think you went through more drafts on this one than any other chapter so far! But the effort was really worth it--good work!
Author's Response: Rowan's mom is also on the practical side, but that would upset anyone

Best chapter so far. I'm worried that you have disappeared, it's been a while. Please, please do not leave me here, with Snape (whom I like more than his current canon counterpart!) on the edge of happiness. You have most certainly made Rowan's life more complicated. But she needs to live a more complex life. Come on, tell us the rest.
Author's Response: Ok, you've convinced me. Well, gotten me off my duff and finished editing chapter 20. It's off for a final proof-read now. Life will get still more complicated for a bit longer |

After reading this chapter, I stopped to think about life at 18, and the short list of life experiences at that age. Poor Rowan, she has to grow up, Severus is right. Like your other reviewers, thank you for finishing this story. It has been a pleasure to share it with you.
Author's Response: I shudder when I remember what I thought about love and life at 18. Cringe :o)
Thank you so much. |

Oh...this was nice! And giving his mother's ring is still canon, and added some "meat" to the chapter. Not that you needed more than that kiss...yummy.
Author's Response: Yes, lucky for me it was his mom that turned out to be the magical one. I had been wondering for some time if Snape would turn out half-blood, based on some comment Jo made, so I avoided nailing him down as pureblood. |

This chapter was a nice change of pace, without putting Snape out of character. Feeling his age a bit, is he?
Author's Response: Feeling her age, more like. Not that he wouldn't like to feel her, but she's so very much younger :o) |
