This is truly awesome! You write so well, and your characters are very believable. I've been following this fic for a while now, and I check back here frequently hoping to see new chapters. Please don't leave us hanging!

Author's Response: I'm really on a roll lately, so updates should happen quite frequently. Try checking every one or two weeks for new chapters :-)

why oh why must there be such an interminable wait between updates? I'm dying here. This truly is as brilliant as the real deal (perhaps more so, since it's told from an adult perspective). I simply must know whatever happened to that "Dear Miss Swain" letter! Patience as a virtue is highly overrated, you know.

Author's Response: The "Dear Miss Swain" letter is still floating around, believe me...

Guernica, I've told you many times how canon I think your Snape is so I'll use this space to praise some other things I noticed. I really like your interpretation of the relationship between Snape and Lily. It's difficult to imagine that they might've been on friendly terms pre-SWM (given the way he responded to her efforts of trying to help him) but you make it believable. Your Lily is about how I imagine canon Lily to be. I also like how there was some explanation for why Sev felt like he couldn't go to Dumbledore; it made perfect sense. Making Felina's surname Nott was cool too. I love when little touches like that are included to show how small the WW is. The only thing I'd like to see more of is how teenage Snape views his fellow Slytherins. I'm curious to know how young!Sev views, Narcissa, Felina, Goyle, etc. and if it's any different than the way he presently sees them. (I figure he can't have thought they were all completely horrible or that would've dissuaded him even further from joining with LV.)

You made me cry. Bastard. It's wonderful, as always.

Your writing is superb. I say this as a writer and a lover of good writing -- this is the finest writing I've ever seen in the fanfiction genre. You've outdone yourself with this one. Start writing original stuff and get published!!!

Author's Response: Thanks, darling! I'm workin' on it!!

This just keeps getting better, even while little Snape's life gets worse. Thanks for the glimpse into the boy he was, especially his relationships with his fellow students and his attitude toward Dumbledore. It's easier now to see why he was seduced by the quick and easy (seemingly anyway) path to power with Voldemort. Also, loved the bit with Lily. She's much as I imagined her to be, especially around James.

Another great chapter, I knew Mama Snape was going and you and Severus handled it well. Snape chewing bubble gum! LOL!

i have been following your story for what seems like a very long time; but i think it's just that it encompasses so much. i love baby snape- i think your characterization of him (both adult and child) is remarkable. i'm really enjoying this aside into his past, but anxious to see what's next in his adult adventures. will he get the girl? ;^)

Author's Response: Thanks, sweetie! Come on, I couldn't write all that about Lucius and not do the same for Sev, could I? And yes, as soon as we're done with Severus's Prologue here, I'll go right back into the "modern" timeline and his relationship with Emily. Ch. 35 is already entirely written, so it'll go up the week after this Prologue is concluded. Just so you know - Part II was mostly about Lucius, but Part III is all about Severus.

:sniff, sob: I had to get out my hankie on this one. Snape's father deserves to wake up to cyanide in his coffee. And so does Aunt Olivia.... An intense chapter, I was overwhelmed.

My favorite part about reading this chapter, about reading all of your story, is how thorough a creation it is. I admit I've almost lost all patience with Snape & Swain's continuous misunderstandings and mis-interrpretations of each others motivations, but that frustration makes for compelling reading. Reading your stuff is a guilty pleasure. Not because I'm enjoying something that's bad for me, but rather because I find myself so strongly identifying with characters who are having such adventure. I alternate between imagining that I would act more wisely/cleverly/boldly than the protagonists and being amazed at how they do what they do. I eagerly look forward to every chapter. Now stop basking in adulation and get back to writing!:-)
