I just read this and the section just prior to this and of course each was wonderful in its own way. I really needede a shower after the last section and this one just broke my heart. I could just see poor, broke Severus wrapped up in his blanket at home in the cold damp house. You have definitely shown how such a fundamentally decent person could be lured into serving the Dark Lord. |

I love this story. Everything is so thought-out, but the design is subtle. I started reading around when you posted Ch. 45, and I'm hooked; I keep looking for updates, and practically squeal with glee when one appears. |

I loved it. Very revealing how Severus gave a virtually identical speech to Bella, about not being "that kind of bloke" to be so easily tossed aside, that he later (or rather, earlier, chapter-wise) gives to Emily. My favorite line was "he wondered briefly if they would be interested in adopting a son." I wonder if Severus will ever meet Buckminster Swain at some point yet to come, hmmm? I know, I know, you're not telling.
Author's Response: Yes, you're right, that sensitivity to being abandoned by women had to come from somewhere - the dressing-down he gave Em was maybe just a tad more vehement than her behavior warranted, wasn't it? And it is possible that Snape will meet Emily's family at some point in time, but yes - I'm not telling! |

Wonderful! Loved the way Severus gave Bella her comeuppance without raising his hand at all. You really have a wonderful way with words. |

Great as usual. The ending left us hanging a bit. Sort of truncated. You've explained everything, though. Poor young Severus, you just want to hug him. (and...don't even go there!)

Reducing a student to tears for a "slight and hitherto unnoticed resemblance to Professor Swain" - absolutely brilliant! |

Another well-written, thrilling chapter! "Test subject", indeed. Poor Severus, I feel so badly for him...but you're right, there had to be something which made him the man he is--and I love your version best of all. |

great story, but so infrequently updtaed.....grrrr, stop having a life and write already! LOL, just kidding....One thing though, these prologues are really good, but it does make me wonder about everybody's favorite faerie, maybe it was better to write this as a seperate prequel type thing? Just my two cents...
Author's Response: Thanks, sweetheart - my chapters are looong and take awhile to write, and my betas work damn hard but they do have lives, bless 'em. BUT, you can expect another update (the conclusion of this Prologue) on Thursday of next week - and 18-year-old Emily makes a cameo appearance in the last part. Week after next we'll be seeing Ch. 35 go up, and you'll see what happened with Severus and our favorite Faerie once she accepted Dumbledore's invitation to join the Order of the Phoenix...stay tuned! |

Man, she's evil! I knew it was coming, of course, but you blew away my expectations. Poor "test subject," it's so sad! What will happen next? Damn, I can't believe I have to wait at least another week to find out. I'm used to inhaling books I like all at once. I devoted an entire weekend to Chapters 1-50, once I discovered this. Fanfiction in-progress is definitely not for the impatient. You do realize, of course, that I make up about 20 different scenarios for the next part in my own head between updates. Yours are always better, though.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, babe! But our young "test subject" may not be content to sit back and let himself be so used - he might have something up his sleeve in the end of the Prologue...but I'm not saying! The conclusion will go up this coming Thursday :-D |

Oh, I think I may cry. Not that I didn't already know, but it's still heartbreaking to think of Severus as a young man being treated so badly by the world. I have really enjoyed your story. You capture teenage lust rather well. My own personal speculations on his past was part of what made me love canonSeverus so much. You have built on that character in a way that I really enjoy, believe, and understand. The epic proportions of these tales amazes me. Well done, again.
Author's Response: *hugs for the kind reviewer* Yes, I always speculated as to the reasons for his misanthropy - people just aren't born that way most of the time. I find Severus to be the most intriguing character in the HP-verse, bar none - this Prologue has been one of the most enjoyable parts of KEC to write. Update coming SOOON! |
