Ha! James O'Barr, author of The Crow.
Eric Draven said that "mother" bit to Darla, Sarah's mother, in the movie.
Author's Response: Ah, thanks for noticing, sweetie! "Mother is the name for God..." is actually from "Vanity Fair" by William Makepeace Thackeray. The novelist and screenplay writer John Shirley made memorable use of this line in Eric Draven's dialogue in the film "The Crow," just as you said. "Vanity Fair" is one of my favorite books in the entire world, and the line seemed quite appropriate as Snape reflects on his relationship with his mother. I'm impressed that you noticed, babe! |

Nicely done. I didn't see this bit until after the other. Sorry about the wrong code in that review...Anyway, I love the whole bit about him giving her poison. What a romantic. *smirk* |

Severus shrugged. "I don't recall ever claiming to be a model of fairness and ethical propriety," he pointed out, and again, she laughed until she had to dab her eyes with her handkerchief. This one is my favorite lines this time. It really does sum him up...I like the way you've worked in little bits, okay, I just saw the one, from HBP....Oh, the Umbridge scene was absolutely priceless. While I despise her, her character can be such fun to work with...Hopefully the next chapter won't be too long in coming. |

It is wonderful to see your writing again, I admi o being a bit worried after HBP came out..in many ways it was disheartening , especially to Snape fans. I do hope that one curse she described causing misfortune is not one that gets used especially on poor Snape who always seems to have a rough time, and I also hope that Snape gets a chance to go to Arcadia soon..he definately needs a vacation.
Author's Response: Thanks lots, sweetheart! (I'll admit I was one of those disheartened Snape fans after HBP came out, until I noticed just how much opportunity it gave me for character development in KEC.) And I'll give you one mild spoiler - no one ever casts an "A Rebours" curse on Snape. Whether any of the Faery curses ever get used on anyone in KEC remains to be seen, however...stay tuned! |

Wonderful! I'm a huge fan of Sidhe and other 'Underhill' style mythology, and you've done a wonderful job of incorperating it into HP verse. (I'm amazed! You actually knows what a 'phooka' is! Yay!) Not only that, but you managed to entangle Shakespeare into it. Be still, my beating heart! Wonderful job, and I sincerely hope that you intend to folllow through with this to the end, because I- and most likely many others- will be utterly desolated if you find your attentions diverted. Thanks for writing! |

I just finished voting and it reminded me of the pressing need to check for updates.
I'm glad HBP hasn't kept you from continuing, hopefully the next chapter will be available very very soon.
Author's Response: Not to worry, babydoll, I just needed some time to read, re-read, and internalize HBP, then write the next chapter based on the new canon. The *complete* Ch. 47 will be up on Monday :-D |

please tell me you'll keep writing. please
Author's Response: I'm still writing, darling, not to worry. I was just a little SHOCKED by some of the new canon, and had to come up with a way to incorporate it into my fic. BUT, I haven't abandoned KEC, not by a long shot :-D |

Ah, that was *good*! I'm happy to be up to date with my favourite story in this fandom :D My favourite part here was the bedroom farce - hot, amusing and just the perfect way for Severus and Emily to get some revenge on Lucious. Masterful writing! |

This has all the makings of the best Snape/OC fic I've ever read. Please continue, and keep the characterization of your delightfully fresh Emily true, and your insight into the mind of Snape keen.
I should mention, also, that your take on Snape's life prior to his induction into the Death Eater society is spot on, and if it is done differently in JK Rowling's mind, then it may well be her loss. |
