I just started your story a couple weeks ago and I am certifiably hooked! I absolutely adore your characters, the worlds you integrate so well and the pace, which is so much more mature and tantalizing than most of the fan fiction out there. If you can stand one tiny critisism, I noticed a small, nitpicky mistake in Ch. 25 (cont.) of the Part Second: in the seventh paragraph, third sentence you make a reference to a Baroque symphony...as a music history major I feel it my duty to inform you there actually is no such thing as a Baroque symphony. They weren't developed until the classical period! Otherwise, your story is meticulously researched and beautifully and engagingly written. Well done! |

I came back to the site and was delighted to realise that you'd updated! IMO your story totally deserves it's awards - congrats!
And thanks so much for the new chapters - as always they're brilliant and enthralling. I really love how you've portrayed all the monsters - especially the vampires. Handsome and preturnaturally compelling really fits them in my mind. Also, I so agree that Severus would have a hard time accepting Emily's continued involvement with Lucius in any capacity.
And you do make both so realistic - it's a pleasure to read a fic (heck, it's hard to find books with this quality) where one can be totally engaged with the characters because you never have to be jolted out of it by an out-of-place action.
And did I mention how Emily is the perfect female heroine - strong, smart, gorgeous, yet imperfect in a few ways... she's so extrememly likable and believe-in-able.
I also think you're doing a great job of integrating the HBP revelations... and I think it makes sense that Severus wouldn't have been to Spinner's End recently. On a selfish note I love how your story, since it takes place primarily within the personal life of Severus Snape, is so plausible, and so able to continue despite new books. I just fear that Snape will not survive the last battle...
I mentioned that yourstory motivated me to take up fencing the last time I reviewed (wayy too long ago) and you asked me what blade I use - the answer is the epee, sort of. I'm in the Society for Creative Anachronism, so we use blades like epees, although our form varies between French and Spanish styles (historically researched) and modern Olympic fencing. It's great fun... do you fence?
Cheers and keep up the great work! |

As much as I enjoyed the call box shag, this is probably my favorite sexual encounter so far. All the desperation, a life-time of longing, such a complete giving over...excuse me I have to go and do...something, right now.
Author's Response: I love having this effect on people. *evil gryn* And yes, somehow the idea of this shy little virgin just getting completely molested by an assertive older woman who does exactly what she wants with him just...just...'scuse me, the hubbeh just got home. :-D |

I feel guilty for not reviewing every chapter as I knew I would, but I got caught up in the story! I am still captivated by it completely. |

Still very much enjoying this story. I really like how you took the time to build up the Faerie as a race that doesn't judge people as humans do, and then prove it by having Lucius be as he always is, and have Emily disapprove of that but still associate with him.
Author's Response: Wow, you are reading it FAST, too! Yes, I saw the Fae are a much more individualistic race than human beings, who oftentimes come off as eccentric to humans because they have very different codes of behavior. Plus Emily is going to be less judgmental of Lucius in that particular scene because he's the only person she knows well in that part of the world. She might have objected more strenuously to his amoral behavior if she was at home amidst her family and friends, than she does here, when she's lonesome and homesick. |

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for describing the tasks by someone seeing it and not just hearing it! That was what I disliked the most about the fourth book... and the pity for the lost dragon eggs was much more in tune with the event itself than the casual brushing off 'oh he lost points for...' than in the book, too.
I also must say that as much as I dislike canon!Lucius, I really do have a soft spot for the man. I think you've written him wonderfully. |

You know something is SO GOOD that you have to review bits of it whilst still reading because you KNOW you'll come across something else so lovely you'll have forgotten the previous. I LOVE SNAPE'S JOURNAL. I love it. Love love love.
