Reviews for Making Ends Meet

Trickie Woo 2005.04.15 - 01:25AM 30: A Return Signed
Well Snape went a lot further than I would have. I would have told Leticia that the old man had to make the first move and atone for all his sins. Because his brother died and he was in a loveless marriage didn't give him the right to beat his wife and son, what it did was make him evil.. Abuse should not be tolerated. An abuser should have to be held accountable for their actions and punished for them. The abuser is the one who should feel guilt, not his victim. It took me a long time to learn that, and once I did I never felt guilt again.

Author's Response: I'm far too charitable for my own good, I think. No, you're right, his past didn't give him the right to behave the way he did. I do not condone it in any way, and I hope it didn't come across that way. Severus hasn't forgiven him yet, but I think understanding goes quite along way in the healing process, and I'm not just spouting pretentious drivel, I do have first-hand experience of that. Maximus isn't the lovliest of blokes, and I'm sure he won't get everything right. I'll make him repent, don't worry - that or just bugger off somewhere!

Oh my god you are one hell of a good writer. Honestly... your the only one who has truly grasped his character, his background and just completely captured what he's like or how he would react with somone like Rosie. I am so amazed at how you developed this whole story... everything fits and flows to well. I swear, it's like you know the guy! I am so happy to finelly read a story by somone who knows what he's like, how he reacts to all situations. Omg and the ideas you have on his past and his backround, the whole story! I could go on forever, you have so made my day. I've been reading this forever and always waiding for the next chapter so, it really is brilliant. Freekin' amazing... i totally envy you, keep writing this!!! WOOT!

Author's Response: Thank you for such a lovely reivew! I hope that you continue to read and enjoy the story. I have to say that I don't think my Severus is entirely perfect, but I am pleased that you like what I've done with him! Thanks again for reviewing...the next chapter is in the queue! Cheers, Heather!

WOW!!! I absolutely love this story. Please update soon. I just love this story. This is how I always pictured Snape. Very good job, update soon. They better get engaged soon! :) Ash http://groups.yahoo.com/group/severussnapesgirl

Author's Response: :-D Thank you for saying so! A bad day has been made quite a lot better! I'm glad you are enjoying, and I'll try and update soon - I always find it hard to predict a date, so I'll leave that estimation out for now! And as for the engagement...I'm sure I can wrangle something with those two! ;-D Thanks, SeverusSnapesGirl!

Bravo! Bravo! *wipes away tear* That was great! So sweet!

Author's Response: :-D Thank you, HPFan! Have a box of tissues on the house!

Interesting twist about Maximus's brother! And are Leticia and Rosie going to find a way to become friends?? Great chapter - looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response: Well, Rosie's always up for a challenge! Maybe she'll find a way to melt Leticia's icy exterior entirely! Cheers, araminta!

That is "BOO-KAY!" Aw, Obadiah, only you could mingle Keepping Up Appearances, Dante & Barchester refs into such an emotionally powerful chapter. Many folks (myself included) hint at or assume Severus's unhappy childhood, but you have him confronting it in a realistic and stunning manner. Rosie was rather a saint through it all, so give her my compliments. Big applause for you, and thanks for the mention--I am glad I could cheer you up. This chapter was well worth the wait!

Author's Response: Oh my God, Grainne, I'm giddy from the compliments! Thank you! You've made my day! :-D Rosie says 'thanks' to you, as well... You always cheer me up, Grainne, so thanks for being around and reviewing! Have a fantastic day!

"put in mind those mean, uncharitable creatures – real nuns" that was pure gold.

Author's Response: Lol - I couldn't resist. I have to say that I draw on personal knowledge when I speak of nuns!

Nice little twist about Snape's father and the Snape family's past...Very good and interesting. I really enjoyed reading this one...

Author's Response: Cheers, Sniv! Glad the chapter was a good 'un!

I certainly hope that Maximus either gets help or double brandy. It's amazing that the truth you know in childhood may not be the total truth. But I'm glad Severus' family is accepting Rosie, not that they really should have a choice or a voice in the matter. You know I'm enjoying this!

Author's Response: Indeed, it's amazing how much you thought you knew when you were young. Those skeletons keep falling out of the cupboards, don't they? ;-D I'm glad that you're enjoying it - I always hope that you are, but it's still nice to be told! Thanks, Lisa!

Iseult 2005.03.26 - 03:08AM 30: A Return Signed
I love Rosie. I hope they resolve the children issue as it seems like something Snape needs to do. Will Leticia and Rosie develop a friendship? I really enjoyed how you resolved the tension in their relationship. Complete absence of triteness and cliche.

Author's Response: :-D Thank you so much! The children issue will be an on-going theme - Rosie is pretty determined on this matter! I'm glad you liked the understanding between Rosie and Leticia. It was hard to not make it sound sickly, so I'm very pleased about the lack of cliche! Thanks so much for the review, Iseult!
